Health Update – Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Responding Well to Treatment in Lucknow
Health Update – Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, president of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, is showing signs of improvement after being admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow for treatment related to respiratory and urinary infections. Doctors attending to him have said his condition is stable and he is expected to recover within the next few days.

Doctors Report Positive Progress
According to the medical team, the senior seer was admitted after experiencing health complications caused by a mild lung infection along with a urinary infection. He is currently under continuous observation, and specialists are monitoring his recovery. Medanta Hospital Director Rakesh Kumar said the treatment has been progressing well and expressed confidence that the Mahant would be fit to return home within three to four days if his recovery continues as expected.
Fever Developed After Public Engagements
Sharad Sharma, Media Coordinator of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said the religious leader developed a mild fever on June 29 after attending a series of birth anniversary events. Despite feeling fatigued, he remained present on the stage during the programmes. Considering his age and the need for a routine medical evaluation, he was taken to Medanta Hospital for further examination. Sharma added that the latest updates indicate his health has improved significantly and that he is expected to leave the hospital soon.
Chief Minister Monitoring the Situation
Hospital authorities also confirmed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been regularly seeking updates on the health of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. Officials said the Chief Minister has remained in contact with the doctors to stay informed about the progress of the senior religious leader’s treatment.
Second Hospitalisation This Year
This is the second time in 2026 that Mahant Nritya Gopal Das has required hospital care due to health-related concerns. Earlier this year, in January, he was admitted to the same hospital after his health condition deteriorated. Following medical treatment, he recovered and was discharged after doctors confirmed that his condition had stabilised.
History of Previous Health Concerns
The veteran seer has experienced several medical issues over the past few years. In April 2022, he underwent treatment at Medanta Hospital after developing a urinary tract infection. Medical examinations at that time revealed a kidney infection along with chronic renal failure, a condition in which the kidneys gradually lose their ability to function effectively. Doctors also diagnosed a urinary tract infection affecting parts of the urinary system, including the kidneys and bladder.
On another occasion, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had tested positive for COVID-19 and remained under medical supervision until he made a full recovery. Since then, regular health monitoring has continued because of his advancing age and previous medical history.
Senior Religious Leader Continues Under Medical Observation
Now around 86 years old, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das remains one of the most respected religious figures associated with Ayodhya. He serves as the Peethadheeshwar of Mani Ram Das Ki Chavani and also leads the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the body responsible for overseeing the management and development of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Doctors remain optimistic about his recovery, while devotees and well-wishers continue to await positive updates on his health.
