CrimeNews – Hapur Police Recover Looted Cash After Highway Robbery Case
CrimeNews – A major breakthrough was achieved by Uttar Pradesh Police in Hapur after officers tracked down suspects linked to the robbery of a textile trader and recovered the entire amount allegedly stolen during the incident. The operation led to the arrest of one accused person, while another sustained injuries during an exchange of fire with police officials.
Robbery Reported on Delhi-Moradabad Highway
According to police authorities, the incident took place on the Delhi-Moradabad Highway when a textile merchant was travelling with a large amount of cash. During the journey, two individuals intercepted the vehicle and allegedly threatened the trader with a firearm before taking away more than Rs 16 lakh. Following the incident, the victim approached the police and provided details of the robbery.
Officials stated that the trader informed investigators that he had been carrying over Rs 16 lakh when the suspects stopped his vehicle and fled with the cash. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was launched.
Driver Emerges as Key Conspirator
As the inquiry progressed, investigators uncovered evidence pointing toward the merchant’s driver. Police officials said the driver was allegedly involved in planning the robbery and had shared information about the cash being transported.
During questioning, the driver reportedly admitted that he had coordinated with two associates identified as Nihal and Rizwan, also known as Munnu. Investigators believe the trio worked together to execute the robbery and divide the stolen money afterward.
Police Operation Leads to Encounter
Using information gathered during the investigation, police teams began searching for the accused individuals. Authorities said they located the suspects late in the evening and attempted to detain them.
According to officials, the suspects allegedly opened fire when police moved in to arrest them. In response, officers returned fire in what police described as a defensive action. During the exchange, one of the accused, identified as Munnu, suffered injuries, while Nihal was taken into custody at the scene.
Cash and Weapons Recovered
Police reported a significant recovery during the operation. Officers seized Rs 16.5 lakh in cash believed to be connected to the robbery. In addition, law enforcement personnel recovered a .32-bore pistol, a .315-bore country-made firearm, several spent cartridges, and the vehicle allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
Officials said the recovered cash and other seized items have been taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Legal Proceedings Underway
The injured suspect was transported to a hospital for medical treatment following the encounter. Meanwhile, police have initiated the required legal procedures against the accused individuals.
Authorities stated that further investigation is continuing to verify all aspects of the case and gather additional evidence. The recovery of the alleged stolen amount and the arrest of one suspect are being viewed as important developments in the effort to resolve the highway robbery case.
