BRICS – Varanasi Set to Welcome Global Delegates for Cultural Exchange Summit

BRICS –   Varanasi is preparing to host an important international cultural gathering as representatives from BRICS member and partner nations arrive in the city for the second meeting of the BRICS Culture Working Group. Scheduled over two days on Thursday and Friday, the event will bring together senior officials, diplomats, policymakers, and cultural specialists from several countries to discuss cooperation in the field of culture and heritage.

Brics varanasi cultural exchange summit

The historic city, which is also the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been selected as the venue due to its deep cultural roots and global recognition as one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited urban centers. Organizers believe the event will strengthen cultural ties among participating nations while highlighting India’s rich civilizational legacy.

International Delegates to Participate

The meeting is expected to welcome delegates from a diverse group of countries, including Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Through discussions and collaborative sessions, participants will explore opportunities to expand cultural partnerships and promote mutual understanding among nations.

Officials say the gathering will provide an effective platform for exchanging ideas related to heritage conservation, cultural industries, tourism development, and international cultural cooperation. The event is also expected to contribute to broader people-to-people engagement among participating countries.

Varanasi to Showcase Its Cultural Heritage

A major highlight of the program will be the presentation of Varanasi’s renowned cultural and artistic traditions. The city, often referred to as Kashi, is known worldwide for its historical significance, spiritual heritage, and traditional craftsmanship.

During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a special exhibition featuring products recognized under the Geographical Indication (GI) and One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives. These products represent generations of skilled craftsmanship and reflect the city’s long-standing artistic traditions.

Local Artisans to Display Traditional Crafts

Six artisans will participate in the exhibition, each presenting a unique product associated with Varanasi’s cultural identity. The display aims to introduce international visitors to the city’s distinctive handicrafts and traditional industries that have been preserved for centuries.

Organizers believe that showcasing these products before a global audience will create greater awareness about local craftsmanship and encourage wider international appreciation for traditional Indian art forms. The exhibition is also expected to support efforts aimed at expanding market opportunities for artisans and small-scale producers.

Uttar Pradesh Strengthens Global Presence

In recent years, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a preferred destination for major international and national events. Government initiatives focused on heritage preservation, tourism promotion, support for local industries, and employment generation have played a significant role in enhancing the state’s profile.

The hosting of the BRICS Culture Working Group meeting is being viewed as another milestone in these efforts. Officials say such events not only attract international attention but also create opportunities for cultural exchange, economic activity, and tourism growth.

Cultural Diplomacy at the Forefront

The two-day gathering is expected to underline the growing importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international relations. By bringing together experts and decision-makers from multiple countries, the event seeks to encourage dialogue on preserving cultural heritage while adapting to changing global realities.

For Varanasi, the occasion offers a valuable opportunity to present its artistic excellence, historical legacy, and cultural diversity to an international audience, further reinforcing its position as one of India’s most significant cultural destinations.
