Tourism – Andhra Pradesh Unveils AI Platform to Transform Visitor Experience Statewide
Tourism –Smart tourism solutions for Andhra Pradesh travel and heritage destinations – Andhra Pradesh has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered tourism platform designed to improve the travel experience by offering multilingual digital assistance, heritage information, and personalized travel support for visitors across the State.

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an AI-based tourism initiative as part of its broader effort to modernize visitor services and position the State as India’s first destination powered extensively by artificial intelligence. Officials also plan to deploy the technology on a larger scale during the Godavari Pushkaralu festival in 2027, when millions of pilgrims are expected to visit major religious centers across the State.
AI Services to Support Tourists Across Destinations
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said the new system allows visitors to receive detailed information about temples, monuments and other tourist attractions without relying on local guides. By scanning specially installed QR codes using a smartphone, travelers can instantly access information in their preferred language.
According to the minister, the platform explains the historical background, cultural importance and religious significance of each destination. It also suggests nearby attractions, provides travel recommendations based on visitor interests and helps users organize their sightseeing plans more efficiently.
Three-Year Partnership to Expand Digital Tourism
To implement the project, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA) has entered into a three-year strategic partnership with travel technology company Explurger. Under the agreement, the company’s NiVU AI (Neural Intelligence Vernacular Unified Model) platform will be deployed at major tourism and pilgrimage locations throughout the State.
Officials said the agreement provides a roadmap for gradually expanding AI-based visitor services while evaluating the platform’s performance over the coming years. If the initiative delivers the expected results, the partnership may be extended beyond the initial term.
Pilot Project Shows Encouraging Results
Before the statewide rollout, the technology was tested at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple and the Sri Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Mangalagiri. The pilot programme received encouraging feedback from devotees, with hundreds of visitors using the service every day.
The AI platform enabled pilgrims to understand the temples’ history, traditions, architecture and religious importance in multiple languages. Officials believe this digital approach makes heritage information more accessible, especially for tourists arriving from different regions of India and abroad.
Expansion Planned Across More Than 100 Locations
As part of the implementation strategy, AI-enabled services will eventually be introduced at over 100 important tourist destinations and religious sites across Andhra Pradesh. During the first year, the government plans to cover around 30 prominent locations before extending the programme across the State over the next three years.
The initiative is expected to benefit visitors at temples, beaches, forts, monuments and other heritage destinations by providing reliable information through a simple mobile-based interface.
Data Insights Expected to Improve Tourism Planning
Apart from assisting travelers, the AI platform will also generate valuable insights for tourism authorities. By analysing visitor preferences, language choices and travel behaviour, the system is expected to provide real-time data that can support future tourism planning and improve public services.
Officials believe these insights will help identify visitor trends, enhance destination management and strengthen infrastructure planning. The government also expects the technology to play a significant role during the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027 by improving information access and helping manage the large number of pilgrims expected to attend the event.
