WomenEmpowerment – Modi Highlights Growing Role of Women in India’s Development Journey
WomenEmpowerment – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the contribution of Indian women, describing their growing influence across multiple sectors as a key force behind the country’s development. He said women have become central to India’s progress and continue to strengthen the nation through their achievements and leadership in diverse fields.

Women Recognised as Drivers of National Progress
In a series of messages shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister praised the achievements of women and acknowledged their expanding role in shaping modern India. Referring to a Sanskrit verse, he emphasized that women symbolize strength, creation, and stability, and have always held an essential place in society.
According to Modi, women across the country are making meaningful contributions through their talent, dedication, and professional excellence. He noted that mothers, daughters, and sisters are helping elevate India’s standing by excelling in a wide range of occupations and public activities.
Expanding Presence in Science and Innovation
The Prime Minister expressed particular satisfaction over the increasing participation of women in advanced sectors such as science, research, innovation, and space exploration. He said the success of women in these fields reflects the changing aspirations of the country and demonstrates their ability to lead in areas traditionally dominated by men.
Modi also highlighted the growing involvement of women in emerging technologies, including drone operations and related industries. He observed that such participation is creating fresh opportunities while contributing to economic growth and modernization across different regions of the country.
Contributions Across Multiple Sectors
The Prime Minister pointed out that women are now playing a stronger role in several important sectors. These include education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, sports, financial inclusion, housing, sanitation, governance, and community development.
He noted that women are increasingly becoming decision-makers, business leaders, educators, researchers, and public representatives. Their contributions, he said, are helping improve both social and economic outcomes while strengthening the foundation of national development.
Government Focus on Empowerment Initiatives
Modi stated that the government’s policies have been designed around the principles of dignity, opportunity, and empowerment. He said these efforts aim to provide women with the resources and support needed to reach their full potential and participate more effectively in nation-building.
The Prime Minister also referred to the importance of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), describing them as a major instrument for promoting financial independence among women. He said these groups have played a significant role in strengthening grassroots economic activity and expanding livelihood opportunities in both rural and urban areas.
Remarks Come Amid Push for Greater Representation
The comments were made shortly after a meeting of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners held during events marking 12 years of the NDA government at the Centre. The timing is notable as the government continues to advocate the implementation of the women’s reservation law aimed at increasing female representation in Parliament and state legislative assemblies.
The NDA government has repeatedly described greater participation of women in governance as an important step toward ensuring balanced representation and inclusive policymaking. Supporters of the initiative view it as a significant measure to further strengthen women’s role in public life and decision-making institutions.
Modi concluded by expressing confidence that the continued advancement of women across education, technology, entrepreneurship, governance, and social development will play an increasingly important role in shaping India’s future growth and prosperity.
