WelfarePrograms – TDP Calls for Public Participation in State Pension Drive

WelfarePrograms – The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has asked its leaders and workers across Andhra Pradesh to actively participate in the upcoming pension distribution programme and treat the government’s welfare campaign as an important public service initiative. The appeal was made by TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao during a teleconference with party representatives on Sunday.

Focus on Pension Distribution Programme

During the virtual meeting, Rao reviewed the arrangements being made for the NTR Bharosa pension disbursement scheduled for June 1 across the state. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their pensions without inconvenience and highlighted the role of party workers in supporting the process.

According to Rao, the coalition government has allocated substantial resources toward social welfare since assuming office. He stated that nearly Rs 66,000 crore has been spent on pension-related schemes during the first two years of the administration, reflecting its commitment to supporting vulnerable sections of society.

Large-Scale Financial Support for Beneficiaries

The NTR Bharosa programme currently provides monthly pensions to more than 62.7 lakh beneficiaries throughout Andhra Pradesh. The scheme requires an expenditure of approximately Rs 2,728 crore every month, making it one of the largest welfare initiatives in the state.

Rao noted that the amount being spent on pensions demonstrates the government’s focus on social security measures. He also pointed out that the scale of expenditure dedicated exclusively to pension support is significant when compared with similar welfare efforts in other states.

Leaders Asked to Reach Beneficiaries Directly

To ensure smooth implementation of the programme, Rao encouraged ministers, local representatives, and grassroots-level leaders to work alongside Secretariat personnel during the distribution process. He said direct visits to beneficiaries’ homes would help guarantee timely delivery of pension benefits and strengthen public confidence in welfare services.

The initiative is expected to involve coordinated efforts between government staff and local leadership, with the objective of reaching pension recipients efficiently and addressing any concerns that may arise during distribution.

Organisational Meetings to Strengthen Party Structure

Apart from discussing welfare programmes, Rao also outlined plans aimed at improving the party’s organisational framework. He announced that regular “Calendar Meetings” would be conducted every Wednesday at different levels of the party structure.

The meetings are intended to facilitate communication between local units and senior leadership. Issues identified at village and constituency levels will be forwarded to higher committees for discussion. Important decisions and policy recommendations will later be reviewed during State General Body meetings, which are expected to take place once every three months.

Public Awareness on Welfare and Development

Rao urged party leaders and workers to effectively communicate the coalition government’s welfare measures and development initiatives to the public. He said awareness efforts should focus on informing citizens about programmes designed to improve living standards and provide financial assistance to eligible groups.

He also called on party members to work collectively to ensure the June 1 pension distribution programme is conducted successfully across Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing that efficient implementation would help maximize the benefits reaching citizens.
