Weather – The National Capital Region is preparing for a shift in weather as forecasts indicate the arrival of rain, strong winds, and possible thunderstorms over the next few days. According to the India Meteorological Department, these changes are likely to be observed on April 7 and April 8, bringing temporary relief from rising temperatures.
Temperatures to Drop Slightly Across the Region
Weather conditions on April 6 remained stable, with temperatures staying within a typical range for this time of year. The minimum temperature was recorded at 21 degrees Celsius, while the maximum touched 33 degrees Celsius. However, a gradual decline in temperatures is expected beginning April 7.
Forecasts suggest that the minimum temperature could fall to around 20 degrees Celsius, while the maximum may hover near 31 degrees Celsius. A further dip is anticipated on April 8, when the minimum temperature may reach 18 degrees Celsius, maintaining a relatively cooler environment compared to previous days.
Rain and Thunderstorms Likely Over Two Days
Meteorological officials have predicted one or two brief spells of rain or thunderstorms during April 7 and 8. These weather developments are expected to bring cloudy skies and gusty winds across the region. On April 9, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy, but significant rainfall activity is not expected beyond the initial two-day period.
From April 10 onwards, weather conditions are projected to stabilize. Clear skies are likely to return, accompanied by a gradual rise in temperature. Daytime temperatures may once again reach between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius by April 10 and 11.
Western Disturbance Driving the Weather Shift
The upcoming weather change is being linked to an active western disturbance affecting northern parts of the country. This system is expected to increase wind speeds and contribute to the drop in temperature across the NCR and nearby areas.
As a result, minimum temperatures could decrease by around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. The cooling effect is expected to be more noticeable during early mornings and late evenings, offering a short period of comfort before warmer conditions return later in the week.
