Dispute Over Livestock Sale Sparks Unrest

The incident occurred between 9:30 pm and 10 pm in Ambhai village of Sillod taluka. According to preliminary information, the confrontation began as a verbal disagreement between two individuals regarding the sale of a goat. What initially appeared to be a personal argument soon drew attention from local residents.

Within a short span of time, the disagreement escalated dramatically as hundreds of villagers gathered at the spot. Officials estimated that nearly 500 to 600 people assembled, turning the situation volatile. As tempers flared, members of both groups began pelting stones at each other, triggering panic in the area.

Property Damage and Rising Tensions

The violence led to significant damage to public and private property. Police sources said that approximately 15 to 20 vehicles parked along the roadside were damaged during the stone-throwing. Broken windshields and dented body panels were visible across the affected stretch, reflecting the intensity of the confrontation.

Residents described scenes of chaos as people scrambled for safety while stones were hurled from both sides. What began as a localized dispute rapidly expanded into a broader confrontation involving larger sections of the community.

Authorities are currently assessing the extent of property loss and reviewing available evidence, including eyewitness accounts, to determine how the conflict escalated so quickly.

Political Undercurrents Reported

While the trigger was reportedly linked to a financial disagreement over livestock, local sources indicated that the clash may have taken on political overtones as it unfolded. There were claims that supporters associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde were present among those who gathered at the site.

However, officials have not yet confirmed any organized political involvement and stated that investigations are ongoing to verify these claims. Police have urged people not to speculate or circulate unverified information that could further inflame tensions.

Injuries and Medical Treatment

At least five to six individuals sustained injuries in the violence. Two of them are said to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Medical staff are closely monitoring their condition, while others injured in the clash are reported to be stable.

Doctors have not released detailed medical bulletins but confirmed that the injuries were primarily caused by stone pelting and physical assault during the melee.

Police Action and Security Measures

Law enforcement teams reached the village soon after the disturbance was reported. Officers intervened to disperse the crowd and restore order. A significant police presence remains deployed in Ambhai village as a precautionary measure to prevent further incidents.

So far, around 15 to 20 individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the clash. Police officials said that additional suspects are being identified, and search operations are underway.

Senior officers have appealed to residents to maintain calm and cooperate with the investigation. They also cautioned against spreading rumors on social media or through informal networks, emphasizing that misinformation could worsen the situation.

The district administration is closely monitoring developments and has assured residents that necessary steps are being taken to ensure peace and stability in the area.
