Daily Service Expected to Ease Passenger Demand

Speaking after the launch, the MP highlighted the growing importance of Kakinada as an emerging economic and educational hub in Andhra Pradesh. He noted that a rising number of residents depend on railway transport for long-distance travel, particularly to major cities. The introduction of a full-fledged daily train service is expected to significantly reduce travel challenges faced by passengers.

The Kakinada–Mysore Express operates through 32 important stations, connecting key urban and semi-urban centers such as Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad. This route plays a vital role in linking coastal Andhra Pradesh with major destinations in southern India, offering greater convenience for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.

Benefits for Students and Working Professionals

Officials emphasized that the upgraded service will be particularly useful for students and professionals traveling frequently between Andhra Pradesh and cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad. These destinations are known for their educational institutions and employment opportunities, making reliable rail connectivity essential.

The availability of a daily train is expected to provide flexibility in travel planning, reduce overcrowding in existing services, and improve overall passenger experience. Many commuters had long expressed the need for such an upgrade, citing increasing demand and limited availability of seats on earlier schedules.

Infrastructure Upgrades Underway at Key Stations

In addition to the service expansion, railway authorities are also working on improving infrastructure across several stations under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. Modernisation projects worth approximately ₹75 crore are currently nearing completion at Samalkot, Tuni, and Kakinada railway stations.

These upgrades aim to enhance passenger amenities, improve station facilities, and ensure better accessibility. Renovation work includes improved waiting areas, upgraded platforms, and enhanced safety features. Authorities believe these developments will further strengthen the railway network’s ability to handle increasing passenger traffic efficiently.

Pithapuram Added to Development Plan

Expanding the scope of infrastructure improvements, Pithapuram railway station has recently been included in the list of stations undergoing development under the same scheme. This addition reflects the government’s broader effort to upgrade railway facilities across smaller towns and ensure balanced regional development.

Officials stated that once all projects are completed, passengers can expect a more comfortable and seamless travel experience across the network.

Strengthening Regional Connectivity

The introduction of the daily Kakinada–Mysore Express is seen as a strategic move to enhance connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. By linking multiple cities and towns along its route, the service is expected to support economic activity, tourism, and mobility across regions.

Railway authorities and local representatives expressed confidence that the new daily schedule will meet the growing travel needs of the public while contributing to long-term regional development.
