Telangana Politics – KTR Targets Congress Over Governance and Unfulfilled Promises
Telangana Politics – BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao intensified his criticism of the Congress-led government in Telangana during a gathering of party workers in Paleru, alleging widespread corruption, administrative failures, and a lack of progress on major promises made to voters during the election campaign.

Allegations Against Senior Ministers
Addressing party supporters, KTR claimed that while the state’s economy was facing significant challenges, several senior ministers were allegedly benefiting financially. He accused Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka of engaging in commission-based activities and questioned the financial dealings of Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
The BRS leader also revisited allegations linked to earlier Enforcement Directorate investigations, asking why detailed explanations had not been provided regarding reports of large cash recoveries during raids. He questioned both the Congress and the BJP over what he described as a lack of transparency surrounding the matter.
Claims Related to Land and Mining Activities
KTR further alleged irregularities involving land administration and accused Minister Ponguleti of influencing land-related decisions. He claimed that disputed land categories were being misused and alleged that pressure tactics were being employed in settlement matters.
Expanding his criticism, the former minister accused the minister’s family members of involvement in illegal mining and land-related activities. He also raised concerns over reported incidents connected to land disputes in Vatti Nagulapalli and questioned administrative decisions involving police officials linked to related investigations.
Questions Over Housing Commitments
A major portion of KTR’s speech focused on the government’s housing programme. He questioned the progress made toward the promise of constructing 20 lakh houses and argued that the target remained far from completion despite a significant portion of the government’s tenure already having passed.
Referring to previous public commitments made by ministers regarding housing construction, he asked whether those assurances would be honoured. KTR also questioned the implementation of the promised Rs 6 lakh housing assistance scheme and alleged that residents in Velugumatla faced demolition of homes instead of receiving housing support.
According to him, the government’s actions reflected a focus on demolition rather than infrastructure development and public welfare.
Concerns Over Farmers and Revenue Policies
The BRS leader also accused the state government of considering the return of land-related taxes, claiming such a move would place additional pressure on farmers already dealing with economic challenges. He contrasted the alleged proposal with policies implemented during the previous BRS administration, which had removed similar burdens.
In addition, KTR alleged irregularities in sand mining operations and claimed that disputes among ministers had emerged over commission-related issues connected to the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara festival.
Criticism of Chief Minister and Administration
Targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR alleged that the administration’s policies were negatively affecting ordinary citizens. He also referred to the demolition of houses in Velugumatla, claiming that hundreds of families were impacted and that their concerns had not been adequately addressed by the authorities.
The BRS leader further alleged that ministers from Khammam district were involved in corruption and argued that governance in the region had suffered under the current leadership.
Focus on Welfare Schemes and Party Expansion
KTR also questioned the status of several welfare commitments, including benefits related to farmer support programmes, insurance schemes, unemployment assistance, and pension enhancements. He claimed that many citizens were increasingly comparing the present administration with the previous BRS government.
Calling for greater organisational strength, he urged party workers to intensify membership campaigns and connect with people dissatisfied with the current government. He said the BRS should channel public concerns into stronger grassroots support.
Highlighting achievements claimed by the previous administration, KTR pointed to progress on the Sitarama Project, irrigation facilities in the Paleru region, uninterrupted power supply, and the establishment of educational and healthcare institutions in Khammam district during BRS rule.
