Suicide Investigation – A woman lost her life while her husband remains under medical care after the couple allegedly consumed pesticide at their home in southwest Delhi. Police have begun a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances that may have led to the incident.
A 55-year-old woman was found dead and her 56-year-old husband was discovered in a semi-conscious condition at their residence in the Bindapur area of southwest Delhi. According to police officials, the husband informed investigators that both of them allegedly consumed pesticide on Monday at around 11:30 a.m. in an attempt to end their lives.
Emergency Call Led Police to the Residence
The incident came to light during the early hours of Tuesday when the Bindapur Police Station received an emergency call reporting a suspected suicide attempt at a house located in Indira Park. The call was registered at approximately 2:49 a.m., prompting officers to rush to the address without delay.
When the police team arrived, they found the woman, identified as Jaspreet Kaur, unresponsive inside the house. Her husband, Richhpal, was still alive but in a semi-conscious state. Immediate medical assistance was arranged, and both were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for treatment.
Woman Declared Dead, Husband Undergoing Treatment
Doctors at the hospital declared Jaspreet Kaur brought dead upon arrival. Meanwhile, Richhpal was admitted for treatment and continues to receive medical care. His condition is being monitored by healthcare professionals.
Police said the husband’s statement, given during the initial stages of the investigation, indicated that the couple had allegedly consumed pesticide together. However, investigators are continuing to verify every aspect of the case before drawing any final conclusions.
Investigation Focuses on Possible Reasons
Authorities have launched an inquiry to understand what may have prompted the couple to take such an extreme step. Officers are speaking with family members, relatives, neighbours, and other individuals who may provide information about the couple’s recent circumstances and personal situation.
Investigators are examining all available evidence to establish whether there were any underlying personal, financial, health-related, or other issues that could have contributed to the incident. Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that all possible angles are being explored.
Forensic Examination Underway
As part of the standard legal procedure, the woman’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Forensic experts also visited the residence and collected samples that will be analyzed to support the investigation.
