Suicide Case – Delhi Woman’s Death Leads to Probe Into Alleged Domestic Abuse

Suicide Case –  A 26-year-old woman was found dead at her home in West Delhi’s Nangloi, prompting police to investigate allegations of prolonged domestic abuse after videos believed to have been recorded by her before her death surfaced during the inquiry.

The woman was discovered hanging inside her residence in Nangloi Extension. According to Delhi Police, officials received information on Tuesday at around 11:09 am that she had been brought to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Initial findings indicate that the cause of death was hanging.

Investigation Initiated Under Legal Procedure

Since the woman had been married for less than seven years, authorities informed the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to conduct an inquest, as required under legal provisions governing such deaths. Police said all mandatory procedures were followed before further investigation was taken up.

The victim’s mother later recorded her statement before investigators. She alleged that her daughter had been subjected to repeated physical abuse by her husband, Rohit, particularly when he was under the influence of alcohol. Police also stated that the husband is currently undergoing treatment for a serious head injury suffered in a road accident several months ago. Doctors treating him have reportedly indicated that his long-term survival remains uncertain.

Videos Become Key Part of Investigation

During the course of the inquiry, members of the woman’s family handed over two videos that they claimed had been recorded shortly before her death. Investigators are examining the authenticity and contents of these recordings as part of the case.

According to police officials, the videos suggest that the woman was experiencing severe emotional distress and had expressed fear for her personal safety. In one of the recordings, she reportedly addressed her father, saying she was leaving and apologised to both of her parents before ending the message.

Allegations Against Husband’s Family

The videos also reportedly contain allegations regarding her treatment after marriage. In one recording, the woman stated that she had wished for a peaceful and small family life. She also denied allegations related to practicing black magic, claiming that such accusations had been made against her while she was facing mistreatment from members of her husband’s family.

Investigators are verifying these claims along with other evidence collected during the inquiry. Police have not disclosed further details from the recordings as the investigation remains ongoing.

Post-Mortem Conducted, Case Registered

The woman’s post-mortem examination was completed on Wednesday. Based on the available evidence, witness statements, and the overall circumstances of the case, police have registered a criminal case against her husband.

Officials said the investigation is continuing to establish the complete sequence of events leading to the woman’s death. Statements of family members, medical evidence, digital material, and other relevant records are being examined to determine whether additional legal action is warranted.

Police have appealed to anyone possessing information related to the case to cooperate with the investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence.
