Government Focuses on Simplifying Public Services

During a review meeting held at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre in the State Secretariat on Monday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to remove unnecessary complexities in government procedures. He emphasized that citizens should be able to access public services without facing avoidable delays or administrative hurdles.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that work has already begun to simplify procedures in 11 categories of government services. Naidu asked departments to continue refining these systems so that people experience a more transparent and efficient process while interacting with government offices.

Stronger Public Grievance System Planned

The Chief Minister also reviewed the existing grievance redressal mechanism and stressed the need for a more responsive public complaint system. He directed officials to expand digital options for filing complaints, making it easier for residents to communicate their concerns without visiting government offices.

As part of the proposed improvements, citizens will be able to submit complaints online as well as through the Mana Mitra WhatsApp platform. Naidu further instructed officials to ensure that voice messages received through the platform are also accepted and processed, allowing greater convenience for people who may find text-based communication difficult.

Mobile Connectivity Issues to Be Resolved

During the meeting, officials reported that around 3,000 locations across Andhra Pradesh continue to face problems with mobile network connectivity. Taking note of the issue, the Chief Minister instructed the concerned departments to prepare a time-bound action plan and resolve connectivity gaps within the next three months.

He noted that better digital connectivity is essential for delivering government services efficiently and ensuring that welfare initiatives reach people living in remote and underserved areas.

Early Childhood Development Programme Reviewed

The review also included a presentation by the Women and Child Welfare Department on the Navachethana Early Childhood Development Screening programme. Officials explained that the initiative is designed to evaluate both the physical growth and mental development of young children across the state.

According to the department, 33,949 children have already been screened under the programme. Besides assessing children attending Anganwadi centres, field teams are also visiting households to identify children who may require medical or developmental support.

Officials said a pilot project will soon be launched to strengthen the follow-up process after screening, ensuring that children identified with developmental concerns receive appropriate assistance and timely intervention.

Senior Officers Directed to Spend More Time in the Field

Officials also informed the Chief Minister that a new circular has been issued requiring senior government officers to undertake regular field visits. Under the revised schedule, Secretaries will spend three days every month in the field, Heads of Departments will spend six days, while District Collectors will dedicate eight days each month to visiting different areas under their jurisdiction.

Naidu instructed officials to use these visits to identify local challenges, assess public service delivery on the ground, and ensure that issues affecting citizens are addressed without delay. He said direct interaction with people and timely administrative action would help improve governance and strengthen public confidence in government services.
