Recruitment – Jharkhand Students Intensify Protest With Assembly March Over Exam Transparency
Recruitment –Student organisations and job aspirants in Jharkhand are set to hold a march to the State Assembly on Friday, stepping up their campaign over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Organisers said the demonstration is aimed at pressing for greater transparency and accountability in the state’s recruitment system.
Assembly March Planned From Ranchi
The protest, named the “Vidhan Sabha March,” is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Protest organisers have appealed to students and government job aspirants from different districts to gather in Ranchi and participate in the march. According to the organisers, the demonstration is intended to highlight concerns over the credibility of recruitment examinations and to demand reforms that ensure a fair selection process.
Demand for Transparent Recruitment System
Those leading the agitation have called for measures to eliminate alleged corruption from the functioning of the JPSC and JSSC. They say the movement is focused on protecting the interests of candidates who have spent years preparing for competitive examinations. Protesters believe that restoring confidence in recruitment procedures is essential for the future of thousands of young job seekers across Jharkhand.
Protest Enters Fourteenth Day
Friday marks the 14th consecutive day of the ongoing agitation, which has steadily attracted support from several student organisations. The protest site at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi has become the centre of the movement, with representatives from various student groups joining the demonstrations and expressing solidarity with the aspirants.
Participants have repeatedly stressed the need for greater transparency in recruitment examinations and have urged the authorities to ensure that selection processes remain free from any alleged irregularities.
Judicial Inquiry Among Key Demands
Earlier in the protest, demonstrators announced plans to surround the Assembly during the Monsoon Session as part of their campaign. They have clarified that their movement is not centred on seeking the resignation of any individual. Instead, they are demanding the cancellation of recruitment examinations they consider compromised and the establishment of a judicial inquiry to examine the allegations in detail.
The protesters argue that an independent investigation would help determine the facts and strengthen public confidence in future recruitment exercises.
Hunger Strike Continues Despite Rain
Student leader Devendra Mahto continued his indefinite hunger strike as the agitation entered another day. Even after persistent rainfall, many protesters remained at the demonstration venue overnight, stating that difficult weather conditions would not discourage their campaign.
Participants said they intend to continue the protest until they receive a concrete response to their demands from the authorities. They maintain that the movement will remain peaceful while seeking action on issues related to recruitment examinations.
Organisers Describe Movement as Non-Political
The organisers have consistently maintained that the agitation is independent of political parties. According to the protesters, the movement is being sustained through voluntary public support rather than political backing. They said local temples, community groups and social organisations have been providing food and refreshments to those participating in the protest.
Student representatives have also appealed for continued public support, saying their campaign is focused on ensuring fairness, transparency and equal opportunities for candidates preparing for government recruitment examinations in Jharkhand.
