Foreign devotees attending the second day of the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri spoke about the deep spiritual connection they experienced while taking part in one of India’s most celebrated religious festivals. Many described the occasion as a unique moment when Lord Jagannath’s blessings become accessible to everyone, including those who are otherwise unable to enter the temple.

International Devotees Share Their Experiences

A visitor from England said the vibrant atmosphere and immense devotion of the gathering made the festival unlike anything he had ever seen. He explained that although he follows the Hindu faith, entry into the Jagannath Temple is not permitted for foreign nationals. According to him, the Rath Yatra provides a meaningful opportunity to have darshan of Lord Jagannath as the deity comes out to bless all devotees without distinction.

A devotee from Russia also expressed gratitude for being present at the festival. Calling the experience unforgettable, the visitor said attending the Rath Yatra was a lifelong aspiration. The devotee noted that the annual event gives pilgrims from around the world an opportunity to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath and participate in the sacred celebrations.

Festival Opens Doors for Global Worshippers

A participant from Bolivia shared similar feelings, saying the procession holds special importance for international devotees who cannot visit the temple throughout the year. The devotee described Lord Jagannath as a compassionate deity who comes outside the temple to offer blessings to everyone, allowing visitors to spend time in prayer and devotion during the festival.

Indian devotees also expressed their joy after witnessing the celebrations. One pilgrim said the entire family had travelled from Bhubaneswar early in the morning to reach Puri. After attending the procession and receiving darshan, the family returned with a sense of fulfillment and happiness, describing the journey as a memorable spiritual experience.

Religious Significance of the Rath Yatra

Speaking about the importance of the annual tradition, a priest explained that Lord Jagannath is regarded as a deity who personally comes out of the temple once every year to meet devotees. He said this divine tradition reflects the belief that the Lord extends blessings to people from every region and background, praying for peace, prosperity and well-being during the present age.

Festival Conducted Smoothly Despite Rain
