Rainfall – Delhi Records Over Two Dozen Collapse and Fallen Tree Calls
Rainfall – Heavy rainfall caused widespread disruption across Delhi on Friday, with the Delhi Fire Services receiving more than two dozen emergency calls involving house collapses, damaged sections of buildings and fallen trees since midnight. Despite the number of incidents reported across the capital, authorities said no injuries were recorded.
Firefighters Rescue Three Women
One of the more serious incidents involved a house where three women became trapped after a tree fell onto the structure. Firefighters reached the location and managed to bring all three women out safely.
The incident highlighted the risks posed by falling trees during periods of intense rainfall, particularly in areas where structures may already be vulnerable. Fire personnel continued responding to emergency calls as reports of damage came in from different parts of the city.
Nine Calls Linked to Building Damage
According to the Delhi Fire Services, nine of the calls received were related to either complete house collapses or portions of buildings giving way. The department did not report any casualties in connection with these incidents.
The heavy downpour placed additional pressure on buildings and other structures in several parts of Delhi. Emergency teams remained engaged in responding to incidents while monitoring reports of structural damage.
Heavy Rain Affects Traffic Movement
Rain continued across several parts of Delhi through the day, resulting in waterlogging on roads and affecting normal traffic movement. Several stretches witnessed difficult driving conditions as accumulated water slowed vehicles and disrupted the usual flow of traffic.
Civic and emergency agencies were working to remove fallen trees and address obstructions on roads. Officials also kept watch over areas considered vulnerable to water accumulation and structural problems as rainfall continued in parts of the capital.
MCD Receives Tree Fall Complaints
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also reported receiving multiple complaints related to fallen trees and waterlogging following the heavy rainfall.
According to the civic body’s Central Control Room report, tree-fall incidents were recorded in several administrative zones, including Keshavpuram, South, Central, West and Civil Lines.
Civic Teams Monitor Waterlogged Areas
Along with fallen tree complaints, the MCD received reports of waterlogging from different parts of the city. Such conditions can slow traffic and create difficulties for commuters, particularly on roads experiencing heavy vehicle movement.
Civic teams continued to assess affected locations and respond to complaints as they were received. Authorities also remained focused on clearing road obstructions and managing the impact of rain-related disruptions.
No Injuries Reported in Incidents
Despite the large number of calls handled by the fire department, officials said there were no reports of injuries from the incidents recorded since midnight. The safe rescue of the three women was among the key responses carried out by firefighters during the period.
With rain affecting multiple parts of Delhi, emergency and civic agencies continued their response to building-related incidents, fallen trees and waterlogging while working to minimise disruption to daily movement across the city.
