Protest Talks – The Central government has reportedly initiated contact with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) for the first time since its demonstration began at Jantar Mantar, raising expectations that formal discussions between the two sides could take place. The reported outreach came on Monday, just hours before thousands of supporters gathered in the national capital for the party’s planned “Chalo Sansad” march.
CJP Leaders Claim Government Contact
According to CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, the government approached the party earlier in the day with a proposal for talks. Both leaders said they were travelling to meet Union minister and former BJP president JP Nadda after receiving the communication.
In a message shared on social media, Das stated that he and Ranka were heading to meet the senior Union minister on behalf of the party. He also said that the organisation’s demands remained unchanged and highlighted the large turnout of young supporters participating in the movement.
No Official Confirmation from the Centre
Despite the claims made by the CJP leadership, the Central government had not issued any official statement confirming that discussions had been initiated. As a result, it remains unclear whether the proposed meeting would lead to formal negotiations or represent only an initial exchange between the two sides.
The absence of an official response has left several questions unanswered regarding the government’s position on the demands raised by the protesters.
Tension Rises at Jantar Mantar
The reported outreach came against the backdrop of growing unrest at the protest site in Jantar Mantar. The situation became tense after clashes broke out between demonstrators and police personnel during the day.
Protesters alleged that police used batons to disperse the crowd during the confrontation. However, there was no immediate official response from the authorities regarding these allegations at the time of reporting. The confrontation added to the already charged atmosphere surrounding the demonstration as supporters prepared for the march towards Parliament.
Party Maintains Willingness for Dialogue
Earlier on Monday, Saurav Das had indicated that the Cockroach Janta Party was prepared to engage with the government if a formal invitation for talks was extended. He said the organisation remained open to discussions despite the delay in communication from the authorities.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Das remarked that although the government had taken time to make contact, the party had kept the door open for dialogue. He added that the next step now depended on the government’s response and its willingness to move the process forward.
Focus Shifts to Possible Negotiations
With supporters continuing to gather in significant numbers for the “Chalo Sansad” campaign, attention has now shifted from the streets to the possibility of negotiations. Whether the reported meeting results in meaningful discussions or further developments is expected to become clearer after both sides present their positions.
