Priyanka Gandhi: on offensive chants directed at PM Modi “No one on stage said anything like that.”
Priyanka Gandhi: In response to the issue surrounding offensive shouts directed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Congress rally, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra explained on Monday that none of the people on stage uttered such statements.

Following the Congress party’s “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” event, which was conducted on Sunday at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, the dispute broke out. The BJP harshly criticized many recordings that showed Congress activists shouting inflammatory chants like “Modi teri kabar khudegi” as they made their way to the gathering site.
Speaking to reporters outside of Parliament, Priyanka Gandhi denied the accusations and questioned why the BJP brought up the matter at the meeting.
“We were debating who said this in reality. Nothing like it was spoken by anybody on stage. It is still unclear who made the comment, but we later learned that it may have been said by a member of the audience or a staff member,” she added.
She also asked why the issue was brought up in Parliament so often.
“What is the purpose of this House discussion? They themselves don’t seem to want the session to go on. So why bring up such matters during Question Hour? They don’t seem interested in running the session. They are preventing us from having the discussion we wanted about pollution. At least there will be less pollution if they shut down Parliament if they don’t want it to continue operating,” she said.
Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, a Congress MP, also responded, claiming that he did not hear any such chants throughout the whole event.
There were thousands of visitors, many of them were from Odisha. The event drew close to five to six lakh participants from all around the nation. He said, “We did not hear any offensive slogans, and nobody from our side raised them.”
Additionally, Pramod Tiwari, a Congress MP, disassociated the party from the slogans.
“How can we react to the Congress party’s lack of personal statement? However, it is also important to consider that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often used strong rhetoric against our leaders. His use of such words has become second nature to him, he said.
Vivek Tankha, a Congress MP, said he had not heard any such chants.
“I was unaware of it. I’m not aware of any such slogans being used. He said, “I would never want any false slogans to be used against any leader.”
Congress MP Mallu Ravi went on to say that none of the party’s officials were participating, even if some people could have yelled slogans.
“The leadership shouldn’t be blamed for ordinary people expressing themselves,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju called on the party leadership to issue a public apology in Parliament and denounced the offensive chants spoken against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Congress rally.
“The world and the people of our 1.4 billion-strong nation recognize Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the leader of the world’s largest democracy,” Rijiju told reporters. If certain opposition members want his murder, it is really sad and unfortunate. Denial alone is insufficient.
“The nation should get an apology from the President of the Congress and the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. In my opinion, the Congress Party should not wait to publicly apologize to the nation’s citizens on the floor of Parliament if they have any compassion or regard for the country and society. Then and only then will we realize that the Congress Party made a mistake and has admitted it,” he said.
Additionally, the Lok Sabha was momentarily halted when the Treasury benches brought up the subject of disparaging Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest demonstration for the Congress on the ‘vote chori’.
