Population Policy – Chandrababu Naidu Calls for Revival of Joint Families and Family Values
Population Policy – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stressed the importance of strengthening traditional family values while highlighting the government’s continued focus on child welfare and public health.

The traditional joint family system plays a vital role in preserving social values and providing emotional stability to younger generations, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Sunday. Speaking during the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme at his camp office in Undavalli, the Chief Minister said the culture of living together as a family has long been one of India’s greatest strengths and deserves renewed attention in today’s changing social environment.
Joint Families Help Build Strong Social Values
Naidu said children raised in joint families often benefit from the guidance and affection of grandparents and other elders, helping them develop discipline, respect and moral values from an early age. According to him, the presence of multiple generations under one roof creates an atmosphere of emotional support while strengthening family bonds.
He noted that preserving this long-standing social tradition can contribute positively to society by encouraging responsibility, care and mutual understanding among family members.
Chief Minister Participates in Pulse Polio Campaign
As part of the nationwide Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme, the Chief Minister personally administered polio drops to young children at the event. Following the vaccination drive, he spent time interacting with children and their parents, asking about their health, immunisation records and overall well-being.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for Naidu to review the progress of the campaign and understand the awareness levels among parents regarding child healthcare and preventive vaccination.
State Targets Nearly Five Million Children
Officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department briefed the Chief Minister about the scale of the immunisation exercise. They informed him that the Andhra Pradesh government has set a target of administering polio drops to approximately 4.92 million children during the three-day campaign.
The large-scale vaccination effort forms part of the state’s continued commitment to maintaining high immunisation coverage and protecting children from preventable diseases through timely public health interventions.
Government Continues Focus on Family-Friendly Policies
During the programme, Naidu also reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting larger families as part of its broader demographic policy. He said awareness initiatives are being carried out to encourage couples to consider having two or more children while creating a social environment that supports family life.
According to the Chief Minister, the government believes that policies encouraging stable and healthy family structures, combined with strong healthcare services, can contribute to the state’s long-term social and economic development.
He emphasised that alongside public health programmes such as Pulse Polio, efforts to strengthen family values and improve child welfare remain key priorities for the Andhra Pradesh government.
