Politics – Delhi BJP Sets Organisational Revamp Timeline and Infrastructure Priorities

Politics –  Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra has outlined a roadmap to strengthen the party’s organisational structure across the national capital, stating that vacant positions at the district level will be filled on priority. Speaking a day after taking over as the president of the Delhi BJP unit, Malhotra said the process of forming district teams would begin immediately, while a broader restructuring of the state organisation would be completed over the coming weeks.

District-Level Appointments to Be Finalised Soon

According to Malhotra, new district teams are expected to be in place within the next 15 to 20 days. He added that the appointment of office bearers and the reconstitution of the state unit would likely be completed within two months. The move is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots network and ensuring smoother coordination between different organisational levels.

Focus on Programmes Marking 12 Years of Central Government

One of Malhotra’s first assignments as Delhi BJP president will be supervising a series of programmes scheduled for June to commemorate 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre. Shortly after assuming charge, he chaired a meeting attended by Members of Parliament, legislators, councillors and district presidents to assess preparations for the upcoming events.

The programmes are expected to highlight government initiatives and outreach activities across different parts of Delhi.

Preparations Underway for Future Civic Elections

Discussing the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections due next year, Malhotra said the party remains actively engaged with citizens throughout the year and does not begin election preparations only when polling approaches. He noted that BJP workers are already organised at the Mandal level and that adjustments would be made wherever necessary to improve efficiency.

Expressing confidence about the party’s prospects, he said development work and public welfare initiatives remain central to BJP’s approach. He also pointed to the functioning of the Centre, the Delhi government and the BJP-led civic administration as factors contributing to continued public support.

Balancing Multiple Responsibilities

Malhotra, who represents East Delhi in the Lok Sabha and serves as Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways as well as Corporate Affairs, said managing multiple responsibilities is not new to him. He explained that capable leaders are often entrusted with more than one role and expressed confidence in handling both his ministerial and organisational duties.

He emphasised that political organisations operate through collective effort rather than relying on a single individual. According to him, different teams handle specific responsibilities, making coordination and teamwork essential for effective functioning.

Coordination With Delhi Government Highlighted

The newly appointed state president also stressed the importance of cooperation between the party organisation and the Delhi government headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. He said the relationship between the administration and the party unit has remained positive from the beginning and that BJP workers will continue supporting government initiatives aimed at improving public services and addressing local concerns.

Major Road Projects Planned Across Delhi-NCR

Alongside organisational matters, Malhotra spoke about several infrastructure projects being undertaken in the Delhi-NCR region. Among the key developments is an elevated road corridor connecting Saray Kale Khan to Sohna and extending from Faridabad to Jewar. He said construction work on the project is progressing and is expected to be completed by December this year.

Kalindi Kunj Decongestion Project Gains Attention

Malhotra also highlighted a road development project worth approximately ₹650 crore designed to ease traffic congestion around Kalindi Kunj. The plan aims to create a signal-free corridor in the area to improve traffic flow and reduce travel delays.

In addition, authorities are working on proposals to make several important routes signal-free in the future. These include the Ashram-to-Badarpur stretch, the Mehrauli-Gurugram Road corridor and the Punjabi Bagh-to-Tikri Border route. Officials believe these upgrades will contribute to smoother transportation and better connectivity across key parts of the National Capital Region
