NEET Protest – Opposition Leaders Rally Outside Parliament Over Student Demonstrations
NEET Protest – Opposition leaders from multiple political parties gathered outside Parliament on Wednesday to express support for students protesting the alleged NEET examination paper leak. The demonstration also highlighted objections to the police response against lawmakers who had earlier staged a sit-in demanding action over the controversy.
Opposition Unites in Black Attire
Members of several parties, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Left parties, Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and others, arrived wearing black clothes as a symbol of protest. The leaders raised slogans targeting the Central government and demanded accountability over the handling of the NEET issue and the police action involving both students and Members of Parliament.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi joined the protest alongside Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and several senior leaders from the INDIA bloc. The gathering reflected a coordinated effort by Opposition parties to keep the issue at the centre of the ongoing Parliament session.
Priyanka Gandhi Backs Students’ Demands
Addressing the media during the protest, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said the concerns raised by students deserve serious attention. She argued that repeated incidents of examination irregularities have created uncertainty among young aspirants and called for meaningful reforms to restore confidence in the education system.
She also questioned the government’s financial priorities, claiming that while the education sector receives a significant allocation, large corporate loan write-offs are being allowed. According to her, students seeking transparency and fairness should not face restrictions for participating in peaceful demonstrations. She maintained that democratic protests should be respected rather than discouraged.
Demand for Ministerial Accountability
During the protest, Opposition MPs sought the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They alleged that the government’s response to the concerns raised by students and lawmakers had been inadequate and called for greater accountability over the controversy.
The demonstration remained focused on demanding action regarding the alleged examination leak and ensuring that future recruitment and entrance examinations are conducted with complete transparency. Protesting MPs continued raising slogans while urging the government to address the issue without delay.
INDIA Bloc Holds Strategy Meeting
Before the demonstration outside Parliament, senior leaders of the INDIA alliance met to discuss their approach for the ongoing parliamentary proceedings. The meeting took place in the chamber of Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and was attended by Rahul Gandhi along with representatives from several Opposition parties.
The discussions reportedly centred on coordinating the alliance’s strategy to raise issues related to the alleged NEET paper leak and other matters expected to dominate the current session.
Congress Explains Symbolic Protest
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Pawan Khera said Opposition MPs had chosen to wear black as a mark of protest against the treatment of students demanding action over the alleged examination irregularities. He said the gesture was intended to convey solidarity with young aspirants who have been seeking a fair investigation and greater transparency.
The alleged NEET paper leak has remained a significant political issue, with Opposition parties repeatedly pressing the government to provide answers both inside and outside Parliament. The matter continues to generate widespread public attention as students and political leaders call for stronger safeguards to protect the integrity of national-level examinations.
