NEET Exam – Dehradun Enforces Security Measures Ahead of Re-Test
NEET Exam – The Dehradun district administration has introduced precautionary restrictions ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, aiming to maintain public order and ensure the test is conducted without any disturbances.
Authorities confirmed that Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been implemented in selected sensitive locations across the district. The decision was taken as part of a broader strategy to provide a secure environment for candidates appearing in the national-level medical entrance examination.
Precautionary Restrictions Introduced
According to an official order issued by Additional District Magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra, preventive measures have been activated across Dehradun to avoid any incidents that could interfere with examination-related activities. Officials stated that the restrictions are intended solely to support the smooth management of the re-test and to prevent any law-and-order challenges.
The administration noted that maintaining a peaceful atmosphere around examination centres remains a priority. Officials emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and focused on safeguarding the integrity of the examination process.
Administration Stresses Fair Conduct of Examination
In its directive, the district administration highlighted its commitment to ensuring that all candidates receive a fair opportunity to take the examination under secure and orderly conditions. The authorities said every effort is being made to facilitate the seamless conduct of the test across all designated centres.
The order further warned that any individual or group attempting to disrupt examination activities or create public disturbances would face strict legal action under the applicable provisions of law.
Extensive Security Deployment Across Centres
Speaking about the preparations, Dehradun Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar said that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place for the re-examination. Special attention has been given to the transportation and safeguarding of examination materials.
Police personnel, along with members of the Central Paramilitary Forces, will be deployed for escort duties related to the movement of question papers. In addition, an officer of Sub-Inspector rank has been assigned responsibility for each examination centre to oversee security-related matters.
The police official also revealed that local station officers have been conducting regular inspections of examination venues over the past several days. These visits have focused on reviewing infrastructure, security systems, and logistical arrangements. Authorities remain in close coordination with centre administrators to address any issues before examination day.
Nationwide Preparations Underway
Beyond Dehradun, authorities across the country have intensified preparations to ensure the successful conduct of the highly competitive medical entrance examination. Security agencies and administrative departments are working together to maintain transparency and prevent any disruptions.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised candidates to report to their examination centres between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. Officials have clarified that entry gates will close at 1:30 pm, and no candidate will be permitted to enter after the deadline.
Examination Schedule and Candidate Participation
The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be held in offline mode using pen-and-paper answer sheets. The test is scheduled to take place from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm.
According to official information, examination centres have been established across 551 cities in India and 14 international locations. More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to participate in the examination, making it one of the largest entrance tests conducted in the country.
