The deceased has been identified as Rahul Dey, 36, who was reportedly present at a small gathering hosted at the residence of Jeet Mukherjee. Police said the two men had known each other in the past but had not remained in contact for a long period. On Wednesday night, Rahul had been invited to Jeet’s house, where several individuals later gathered on the rooftop.
Witness accounts suggest that the group was consuming alcohol when the situation escalated. Around 12:30 a.m., nearby residents reported hearing multiple gunshots. Authorities later confirmed that at least three rounds were fired during the incident. Panic ensued, and others present at the scene fled immediately after the firing began.
Victims Found With Gunshot Injuries
Family members were alerted about the incident by one of the attendees who had escaped. Rahul’s brother, along with their mother, rushed to the location and found him lying critically injured on the rooftop. Jeet Mukherjee was also discovered beside him, wounded.
Both individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Rahul dead upon arrival. Jeet, who sustained injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a private medical facility.
