Ketan Agarwal Murder Case – The investigation into the murder of Ketan Agarwal has entered a significant phase as authorities continue collecting evidence while the Maharashtra government moves to ensure a faster judicial process. Police are closely examining a red electric car used by the victim on the day of the incident, while fresh legal measures have been announced to accelerate the case.
The red electric vehicle that Ketan Agarwal drove during his visit to Lohagad Fort on June 18 has become an important part of the ongoing investigation. According to Pune Police, the vehicle is being thoroughly examined as investigators gather evidence to establish the sequence of events surrounding the alleged murder.
Car Footage Becomes Part of Investigation
Investigators are also reviewing a video that surfaced on social media showing Ketan Agarwal driving the same electric car with his fiancée, Siya Goyal. The footage, reportedly recorded by Ketan himself shortly after purchasing the vehicle, captures the couple enjoying a drive with the car’s sunroof open. Officials believe the recording could provide useful background information as they reconstruct the timeline leading up to the fatal incident.
Police have already arrested Siya Goyal and her friend, Chetan Chaudhary, in connection with the case. Both remain in police custody while investigators continue questioning them as part of the ongoing murder probe.
Maharashtra Government Orders Faster Trial
In a major development, the Maharashtra government has approved the establishment of a fast-track court to hear the case. Along with this decision, senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor.
The decision followed a meeting between Ketan Agarwal’s father, Vishal Agarwal, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune. During the meeting, the victim’s family appealed for an expedited trial and strict legal action against those accused in the case. The Chief Minister assured the family that the investigation would proceed swiftly and that every necessary step would be taken to ensure justice.
Family Seeks Maximum Punishment
After meeting the Chief Minister, Vishal Agarwal said he had requested the harshest possible punishment for the accused, including the death penalty if permitted under law. He also stated that he had been informed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had already been constituted to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The victim’s father also questioned the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. Referring to personal details discussed before the marriage, he said both families were aware that Ketan used a small hair patch and expressed disbelief that such information could have any connection to the crime. He further claimed that the trekking trip to Lohagad Fort had been planned at Siya Goyal’s request.
Ujjwal Nikam Accepts Role as Prosecutor
Speaking about his appointment, Ujjwal Nikam said he received a call from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informing him about the family’s request to appoint him as the Special Public Prosecutor. According to Nikam, the Chief Minister described the case as an important challenge for Maharashtra and sought his assistance in representing the prosecution.
Nikam said he accepted the responsibility after considering the seriousness of the matter. He added that the murder had drawn nationwide attention and reaffirmed his commitment to presenting the prosecution’s case before the court as the legal proceedings move forward.
