Investigation – The Telangana Congress has suspended senior party leader Mahaboob Alam Khan and his son Mujahid Alam Khan following their arrest in connection with the murder investigation of senior advocate Khaja Moizuddin. The action was announced by the party’s disciplinary committee after police identified the father-son duo among the key accused in the case.
According to Hyderabad Police, the incident initially appeared to be a serious road accident but later emerged as an alleged planned killing. Investigators said Advocate Khaja Moizuddin, who was associated with legal matters involving Waqf properties, was struck by a vehicle while leaving his residence in Nampally during the early hours of May 23. He was rushed for medical treatment but later died from his injuries.
Background of the Investigation
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar stated that officers launched an extensive probe after receiving a complaint regarding the incident. During the investigation, authorities arrested seven individuals, including Mujahid Alam Khan and Mahaboob Alam Khan, for their alleged roles in the case.
Police officials said the deceased advocate had been involved in long-running legal disputes concerning the management and financial affairs of certain Waqf properties located in Malakpet and Lakdikapul. Investigators believe these disputes may have contributed to the motive behind the alleged conspiracy.
Evidence Collected by Police
Authorities examined surveillance footage from multiple locations and reviewed movement patterns linked to the suspects. Investigators reported that CCTV recordings indicated the vehicle involved had allegedly been positioned near the advocate’s residence before the incident occurred.
The police further stated that several civil, criminal and Waqf Tribunal cases had remained active between the parties for many years. According to investigators, tensions connected to these legal proceedings had intensified over time.
Alleged Conspiracy and Planning
Officials claim the alleged plot was developed over several months. Investigators suspect that individuals connected to the conspiracy conducted surveillance activities near the advocate’s residence to monitor his daily routine.
Police allege that funds were arranged through intermediaries to obtain a vehicle and coordinate the operation. Investigators said multiple individuals were assigned different responsibilities, ranging from planning and communication to executing the attack.
The case took a significant turn when police tracked and arrested a suspect known as Kishan alias Pappu in Haryana. According to investigators, information obtained during questioning helped officers identify additional individuals allegedly linked to the conspiracy.
Arrests and Recoveries
On May 29, police arrested Mujahid Alam Khan from Hyderabad, while other suspects were detained at different locations. Authorities reported recovering the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, along with cash and electronic devices believed to be relevant to the investigation.
Officials stated that the recovered mobile phones are being examined as part of efforts to reconstruct communication between the accused. Investigators are also analysing financial transactions and other evidence collected during searches.
Further Inquiry Underway
Police have indicated that the investigation remains active and that additional questioning of the accused will continue. Authorities are also attempting to locate a few individuals who are believed to have played supporting roles in the alleged conspiracy.
The arrested suspects are currently facing charges related to murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators said they plan to seek further custodial interrogation to establish the complete sequence of events and determine whether any additional individuals were involved.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Congress has distanced itself from the controversy by suspending both leaders pending further developments in the case. Party officials have not issued any detailed comments beyond the disciplinary action announced after the arrests.
