Project expected to support regional investment

The proposed industrial park is expected to attract fresh investment and expand employment opportunities in the region. The project has been under discussion for some time and is being viewed as an important step towards strengthening the industrial base of Vizianagaram district and nearby areas.

The ceremony at Srungavarapukota was attended by District In-charge Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, MSME, SERP and NRI Empowerment and Relations Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharath, District Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy and Joint Collector S. Sedhu Madhavan.

MLCs Indukuri Raghu Raju and Gade Srinivasulu Naidu, local MLA Kolla Lalitha Kumari, senior government officials, elected representatives and JSW Group representatives were also present. A large number of residents from surrounding villages watched the event through a live telecast.

Focus on support for land-losing families

Addressing the gathering, Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said industrial growth and private investment would play an important role in Andhra Pradesh’s wider economic progress. She acknowledged the contribution of farmers who provided land for the industrial park and said the government would keep their welfare among its priorities.

She stated that the first phase of the MSME park would cover 535 acres. According to the minister, the development could generate nearly 45,000 direct and indirect job opportunities once industrial units begin operations.

Anitha said the project could help reshape Srungavarapukota Assembly constituency into a key industrial location, while also creating new prospects for local youth, small businesses and service providers.

First phase involves Rs 531 crore investment

Minister Kondapalli Srinivas said the JSW Industrial Park was designed as a modern industrial facility that could help place North Andhra on a wider investment map. He said the first phase was being developed across 1,160 acres with an estimated investment of Rs 531 crore.

He added that work on the project was progressing at a steady pace. The government, he said, was preparing measures to ensure that every family that gave land for the project receives access to employment opportunities and livelihood support.

The minister noted that the park is expected to create work opportunities for around 45,000 people through industrial units, allied businesses, logistics services and other supporting activities.

Comparison drawn with Sri City model

Srinivas compared the proposed JSW Industrial Park with Sri City in Chittoor district, saying the new project has the potential to bring similar economic changes to North Andhra. He said the park could encourage the establishment of manufacturing and MSME units, leading to broader development in the region.

He credited Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh for supporting the State’s development and investment agenda.

With the Bhoomi Pooja completed, the project has entered its initial implementation stage. The industrial park is expected to become a significant infrastructure initiative for Vizianagaram district, with the government focusing on employment, investment and long-term regional growth.
