Hyderabad police: Cases of domestic assistance theft are resolved, Rs 31 lakh worth of gold and silver are confiscated

Hyderabad police: Three suspects have been taken into custody by the Hyderabad city police after they discovered two theft cases and found stolen gold and silver items valued at around Rs 31 lakh.

Police detained Uragadda Madhavi (35), a maid, and her husband, Uragadda Krishnaiah (40), a driver, in the first case under the Karkhana Police Station. Both were from Lakkapalli Village in the Narayanpet area.

Police said that Bowenpally jewelry merchant Gajawada Sridhar, the complainant, revealed that gold ornaments and biscuits had been stolen from his home for a while. The maidservant who worked in his home and her spouse were investigated on suspicion.

They had repeatedly stolen gold ornaments and gold biscuits, and it was discovered throughout the inquiry that they had melted some of the stolen gold to make decorations for themselves.

Both defendants were taken into custody on December 15. According to S Rashmi Perumal, DCP North Zone, they admitted to the crime and helped the police recover 24.2 tolas worth of stolen gold jewelry and melted gold pieces.

The two defendants were taken into custody, brought before the court, and placed under judicial custody.

Jajala Sindhu Chinnari of Kowdpally, Medak, Telangana, was taken into custody by police in a different case under the Bollarum Police Station. On December 13, Yellu Sujatha, the complainant, stated that the gold and silver items she had stored in her almirah were gone, according to Bollarum police.

In July 2025, she hired Sindhu Jah as a maidservant. She discovered that costly silver items and gold decorations were gone from her home when she checked her belongings before leaving.

The complaint led to the registration of a case under section 306 BNS. The accused was questioned and the stolen jewelry was found throughout the course of the inquiry.

The accused was found in possession of a gold necklace worth 5.1 tolas, a melted gold piece weighing two tolas, and silver items totaling sixty-one tolas, according to the DCP.

To help prevent thefts and maintain public safety, the Hyderabad City Police encourage all citizens to exercise caution by thoroughly checking the background of domestic workers before hiring them, making sure that valuables are always kept safely locked, and reporting any suspicious activity to Dial-100 right away.
