Hot Wind Alerts Across Key Districts

According to the latest forecast, nearly 23 mandals are expected to face severe hot wind conditions, while another 26 mandals may experience moderate hot winds. The warning covers areas in Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts, where conditions are expected to be particularly harsh.

In addition, hot winds are also likely to affect parts of Polavaram, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Eluru, Markapuram, and Kadapa districts. Officials have emphasized that the combined effect of heat, dry winds, and humidity could increase discomfort and pose health risks, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children.

Temperatures Soar Across the State

The warning comes after several locations in Andhra Pradesh recorded extremely high temperatures on Sunday. Markapuram in Prakasam district reported a peak temperature of 44.7°C, making it one of the hottest areas in the state. Allagadda in Nandyal followed closely with 44.1°C, while Vontimitta in Kadapa registered 43.8°C.

Other regions also experienced intense heat. Nagaradone in Kurnool and Gurajala in Palnadu recorded 43.7°C, while Kommipadu in Nellore saw temperatures reach 43.5°C. Widespread Heat Across Multiple Mandals

Beyond these high readings, a significant number of mandals have been experiencing temperatures above 41°C. Data indicates that as many as 198 mandals across 16 districts crossed this mark, highlighting the widespread nature of the heatwave conditions.

Meteorological experts note that such sustained high temperatures, combined with hot winds, can lead to rapid dehydration and heat-related illnesses if precautions are not followed. The persistence of these conditions suggests that residents should remain vigilant over the coming days.

Authorities Urge Precautionary Measures

Officials have advised people to take simple but effective steps to protect themselves from the extreme heat. Wearing head coverings such as caps or cloth wraps can help reduce direct exposure to the sun. Covering the ears during strong hot winds and using good-quality sunglasses to shield the eyes are also recommended.

Hydration remains a key focus in the advisory. Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, including water, lemon-based drinks, buttermilk, and coconut water. These can help maintain body temperature and prevent dehydration during prolonged exposure to heat.

Public Asked to Stay Alert

With forecasts indicating continued high temperatures and strong winds, authorities have stressed the importance of avoiding unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. People working outdoors are advised to take frequent breaks and seek shade whenever possible.

The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates are expected as weather conditions evolve. Meanwhile, residents are urged to stay informed through official advisories and follow safety guidelines to minimize health risks during this period of extreme heat.
