Governance – PM Modi Calls for Unified Administrative Push to Improve Policy Outcomes
Governance – Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday with senior bureaucrats from across the Union government, urging ministries to strengthen coordination and ensure that government initiatives produce measurable improvements in people’s lives. The nearly four-hour session, held at Seva Teerth, brought together around 80 secretaries representing various ministries and departments to review governance priorities for the remaining months of the current financial year.

Focus on Coordination Across Ministries
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that ministries should move beyond working independently and instead adopt a collaborative approach to policymaking and implementation. He said that stronger cooperation among departments would help speed up decision-making, reduce duplication of work, and improve the delivery of public services.
A key area of discussion was the need to remove unnecessary administrative hurdles while encouraging greater self-reliance in different sectors. Officials examined ways to simplify regulatory processes so that businesses and citizens can access government services more efficiently without facing excessive compliance requirements.
Greater Role for PM GatiShakti Platform
Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the importance of making wider use of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan as a common platform for planning and coordination. He noted that the digital system can support ministries by improving data sharing, strengthening interdepartmental cooperation, and helping execute projects with better efficiency.
According to the discussions, the platform is expected to play a larger role in identifying implementation gaps, accelerating infrastructure-related decisions, and ensuring that multiple government agencies work with shared information while carrying out development projects.
Secretaries Present Departmental Progress
Senior officials from several ministries briefed the Prime Minister on major initiatives currently being undertaken in their respective departments. They outlined measures aimed at reducing regulatory burdens, improving administrative processes, and making government services more accessible for citizens and businesses.
The presentations also focused on efforts to simplify procedures, improve transparency, and eliminate obstacles that slow down project execution. Officials discussed practical steps being taken to enhance efficiency across different sectors while supporting economic activity.
Review Linked to Long-Term National Objectives
The review meeting built on the priorities discussed during the Council of Ministers meeting held on June 21. Government officials revisited reform goals intended to create more employment opportunities, strengthen economic growth, and improve governance standards over the coming years.
Among those present were Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra, who participated in discussions on addressing sector-specific challenges and improving coordination between ministries. The meeting also explored strategies for resolving logistical issues that can delay policy implementation.
Emphasis on Measurable Public Impact
The Prime Minister underlined that government performance should be assessed not only by policy announcements but also by their visible impact on citizens. He encouraged senior administrators to remain focused on practical outcomes that improve everyday life while contributing to India’s long-term development goals.
The discussions reflected the government’s broader vision of supporting structural economic reforms as the country works toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. By encouraging integrated governance and faster execution of public programmes, the meeting sought to reinforce accountability and improve the effectiveness of policy implementation across the central administration.
