Conference Focuses on Long-Term National Goals

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference is being organized at the Haryana Legislative Assembly from June 8 to June 9. The event revolves around the theme of building an informed society and enhancing the role of elected representatives in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.

The two-day gathering is expected to bring together Speakers, Presiding Officers, and legislators from several northern states. Participants will exchange ideas and examine how legislative bodies can contribute effectively toward long-term national development objectives.

Strengthening Parliamentary Institutions

According to officials, the conference aims to create a platform for constructive discussions on improving parliamentary functioning, adopting modern legislative practices, and enhancing cooperation among democratic institutions across the region.

The deliberations will focus on strengthening legislative systems and identifying practical measures that can improve governance while ensuring greater public engagement in democratic processes.

Delhi Assembly to Share Legislative Experience

Representing the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta will take part in various high-level discussions during the conference. His participation will include sharing perspectives on citizen empowerment and exploring ways to encourage wider public involvement in legislative decision-making.

Officials noted that the exchange of ideas among lawmakers is expected to help develop more effective approaches for addressing regional challenges. Gupta Highlights Importance of Legislative Heritage

The conference participation comes shortly after Vijender Gupta attended a significant parliamentary event alongside Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. During that occasion, the first edition of “Vidhan-Chetna,” a quarterly publication of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, was formally launched.

The event also marked the release of an extensive collection documenting the proceedings of the Central Legislative Assembly between 1924 and 1930. The publication was issued in 89 volumes, preserving an important chapter of India’s legislative history.

Preserving History While Advancing Democracy

Speaking at the earlier ceremony, Gupta described the initiative as an important link between India’s parliamentary heritage and its evolving democratic framework. He emphasized the value of preserving institutional records while encouraging contemporary legislative dialogue.

As chair of the event, he stated that maintaining historical parliamentary documents remains essential for strengthening democratic traditions and promoting informed legislative discourse in the years ahead.
