Geopolitics – India Backs UAE After Fujairah Attack Injures Nationals
Geopolitics – India has reiterated its strong support for the United Arab Emirates after a recent attack on civilian infrastructure in Fujairah left three Indian nationals injured. The incident has raised fresh concerns over regional stability and the safety of critical global trade routes.

India Condemns Attack on Civilian Infrastructure
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over the incident, firmly condemning the targeting of civilian areas. In a public statement, he described such actions as unacceptable and extended India’s solidarity with the UAE during this period of heightened tension.
He underscored the long-standing relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing that both nations share strong economic and strategic ties. India, he noted, remains committed to supporting peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomacy.
Strategic Importance of Fujairah Highlighted
The attack took place in Fujairah, a key maritime hub located on the eastern coast of the UAE. This region plays a crucial role in global oil transport as it provides an alternative route bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most sensitive energy corridors.
Indian officials stressed that uninterrupted navigation through this route is essential not only for regional peace but also for global energy security. Any disruption in this area could have far-reaching economic consequences.
Ministry of External Affairs Calls for Restraint
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), through spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, issued an earlier statement condemning the escalation. The MEA reiterated India’s consistent position that civilian lives must be protected and conflicts should be resolved through diplomatic engagement.
The statement also highlighted the importance of maintaining open and secure international trade routes in accordance with global legal frameworks. India reaffirmed its readiness to support initiatives aimed at restoring peace in the region.
Injured Indian Nationals Receiving Assistance
According to the Indian Embassy in the UAE, three Indian citizens were injured during the strikes. The injuries reportedly occurred due to a fire that broke out in the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone following the attack.
Embassy officials are currently working closely with local authorities to ensure that the injured individuals receive proper medical attention and necessary support. Their condition has been described as stable, with injuries categorized as moderate.
UAE Blames Iran for Escalation
The UAE government has strongly condemned what it described as renewed aggression involving drone and missile strikes. Authorities have attributed the attack to Iran, stating that civilian sites were deliberately targeted.
In an official response, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled the incident a serious violation of international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. It also warned that such actions pose a direct threat to national security and regional stability.
Air Defence Systems Intercept Missile Threats
The UAE’s Ministry of Defence reported that multiple cruise missiles were launched toward various locations across the country. However, air defence systems successfully intercepted these threats before they could cause widespread damage.
Authorities confirmed that loud sounds reported by residents were the result of these interception operations. The swift response helped prevent further casualties and infrastructure damage.
Public Safety Measures Issued
Following the incident, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority advised residents to remain indoors and rely only on official communication channels for updates.
Citizens and residents were also cautioned against approaching or handling any debris from intercepted projectiles. Officials emphasized that such materials could pose safety risks and should only be handled by trained personnel.
Growing Concerns Over Regional Stability
The developments in Fujairah come amid increasing tensions in West Asia, raising concerns among global powers. India’s response reflects its broader commitment to maintaining stability in a region critical to its energy needs and economic interests.
As diplomatic efforts continue, both India and the UAE have called for restraint and a return to dialogue to prevent further escalation.
