EducationPolicy –  Dr BR Ambedkar University Delhi marked its 14th annual convocation ceremony on Thursday with the participation of senior government leaders, faculty members, students, and their families. The event celebrated the academic achievements of graduating students while highlighting the role of education in social progress and national development.

Leaders Address Graduating Students

Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended the ceremony as chief guests. Speaking to the graduating students, Sandhu described the convocation as an important milestone that represents both accomplishment and responsibility. He encouraged students to use their education not only for personal growth but also for contributing positively to society and the country.

According to the Lieutenant-Governor, the completion of higher education should inspire young people to participate actively in nation-building and public service. He noted that universities play a critical role in preparing future leaders capable of addressing social and economic challenges.

Recognition for Academic and Research Initiatives

During his address, Sandhu praised the university’s academic progress over the past several years. He highlighted the institution’s efforts in implementing the National Education Policy and promoting research-driven learning across multiple disciplines.

He also acknowledged the university’s work in preserving Indian knowledge traditions, supporting rural entrepreneurship programmes, and expanding mental health and student welfare services on campus. The Lieutenant-Governor said the university has established a strong reputation in social sciences, humanities, and public engagement since its establishment 17 years ago.

The event also featured appreciation for research contributions in emerging and contemporary academic fields, including development studies and human ecology. Faculty members and researchers were recognised for their efforts in encouraging interdisciplinary learning and socially relevant research.

Chief Minister Congratulates Students

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta congratulated the graduating students and their families on the successful completion of their academic journey. She described the occasion as a reward for years of discipline, dedication, and perseverance.

Gupta said higher education institutions have an important responsibility in shaping responsible citizens and skilled professionals. She encouraged students to remain committed to ethical values and continue contributing to the growth of society in their professional and personal lives.

Her address focused on the importance of hard work and continuous learning in a rapidly changing world. She also appreciated the role played by teachers, parents, and university staff in supporting students throughout their academic journey.

Education Minister Highlights Transformative Power of Learning

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood also addressed the gathering and underlined the significance of education in transforming lives and strengthening nations. He said education remains one of the most powerful tools for social and economic progress.

Sood emphasised the need for educational institutions to encourage innovation, research, and inclusive learning opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. He added that universities should continue creating environments that promote creativity, critical thinking, and leadership.

Degrees Awarded Across Multiple Faculties

The convocation ceremony included the distribution of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees to students from various faculties. The programme began with an NCC guard of honour presented to the dignitaries attending the event.
