Focus on Education as Schools Reopen

Addressing students at the start of the academic year, Shivakumar conveyed his best wishes on behalf of both the state government and himself. He described the reopening of schools as an important milestone for students beginning another phase of learning and personal growth.

He urged young learners to make full use of the educational resources available to them and work toward building successful futures. According to him, education remains one of the strongest foundations for individual progress as well as the state’s overall development.

Karnataka’s Legacy in Academic Excellence

Speaking about Karnataka’s achievements in the field of education, Shivakumar noted that the state has nurtured generations of talented individuals who have gone on to make valuable contributions across various sectors worldwide.

He said Karnataka’s educational ecosystem continues to earn national and international recognition. Over the years, the state has produced distinguished scientists, legal experts, educators, researchers, and professionals whose work has benefited society in significant ways.

The Chief Minister-designate emphasized that students today have the responsibility of carrying forward this rich legacy and contributing to future advancements in their chosen fields.

Home to Leading National Institutions

Highlighting Karnataka’s importance in India’s academic and scientific landscape, Shivakumar pointed out that several prestigious institutions are based in the state. These include the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

He said the presence of such institutions reflects Karnataka’s role as a major center for education, research, innovation, and technological development. Students, he added, should draw inspiration from these organizations and aim for excellence in their own academic journeys.

Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Education

Looking ahead, Shivakumar observed that technological advancements are rapidly transforming the world. He specifically referred to the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence and indicated that discussions on the state’s future education strategy would include AI-related developments.

He stated that further details regarding educational reforms and policy initiatives, particularly in primary education, would be shared in the coming days.

Encouragement for Rural Students

Shivakumar also delivered a message of confidence to students studying in rural regions. He encouraged them not to feel disadvantaged when compared with students from urban areas and stressed that determination and quality teaching can help bridge any perceived gaps.

He praised teachers for their dedication and pointed to strong SSLC examination results as evidence of the standards being maintained in schools across the state. He assured students that the government remains committed to strengthening educational infrastructure and improving learning outcomes.

No Comment on Ongoing Dress Code Debate

When questioned by journalists about reports concerning restrictions on religious symbols and attire in educational institutions, including discussions surrounding the hijab and saffron shawls, Shivakumar chose not to engage in the debate.

He stated that the matter could be discussed at an appropriate time in the future and emphasized that the focus at present should remain on the reopening of schools and the welfare of students.

Delhi Visit Planned

Before concluding, Shivakumar mentioned that he and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah were scheduled to travel to New Delhi later in the day. He declined to make any additional remarks on political developments, choosing instead to keep attention on educational issues and the beginning of the new academic year.
