Education – Delhi Schools Academic Calendar 2026–27 Announces CUET Timeline
Education – The Directorate of Education has published its academic calendar for the 2026–27 session, setting out important dates for school activities and competitive exam registrations.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has officially rolled out the academic calendar for the 2026–27 academic year, bringing clarity to students, parents, and educators across government and aided schools in Delhi. The schedule provides a structured outline of key academic events, including admissions, examinations, holidays, and extracurricular engagements, aiming to ensure a smooth and balanced school year.
CUET Registration Timeline Announced
One of the most notable highlights of the calendar is the timeline for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). According to the schedule, online registrations for CUET are expected to begin in the first week of April. This early announcement is intended to give students sufficient time to prepare and complete the application process without last-minute pressure.
Schedule for Competitive and Scholarship Exams
The academic calendar also provides guidance on other major national-level entrance examinations. Registration processes for exams such as engineering, medical, law, and commerce entrance tests are anticipated to begin around July. This includes widely pursued exams like JEE, NEET, CA, and CLAT, which are critical for students planning higher education pathways.
In addition, scholarship examinations have been scheduled for August. These include the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship and the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha. These exams play an important role in supporting academically strong students from economically weaker sections by providing financial assistance and encouragement.
New Coaching Initiative for Government School Students
A significant feature of this year’s plan is the inclusion of the Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Vidya Shakti Mission. Approved in December 2025, this initiative is designed to strengthen academic support for students in government schools.
Under this programme, students preparing for CUET and other competitive exams will receive free coaching, study materials, practice tests, and mentorship. The scheme also includes counselling support to guide students through admission procedures and career decisions. This effort is expected to improve access to quality preparation resources for students who may otherwise face financial or institutional limitations.
Admission Process and Key Dates
The academic session officially began on April 1. Admissions to Class 11 will commence after the announcement of Class 10 board results, ensuring that students can make informed decisions based on their performance.
For Classes 10 and 12 under non-plan admissions, a common admission test has been scheduled for April 25, with results set to be declared on April 28. This centralized approach is expected to streamline the admission process and maintain transparency.
Meanwhile, admissions for Classes 6 to 9 under the non-plan category will take place through three online cycles between April and July. Authorities have confirmed that the entire process will be completed by August 31, allowing schools to stabilize enrollment well before the mid-term academic period.
Focus on Structured and Balanced Academic Year
The newly released calendar reflects a comprehensive approach to education planning. By aligning academic schedules with competitive exam timelines and introducing supportive initiatives, the Directorate aims to promote both academic achievement and overall student development.
The inclusion of co-curricular activities alongside academic milestones also highlights an effort to ensure a well-rounded learning environment. Schools are expected to follow the calendar closely to maintain consistency and provide students with a predictable and organized academic experience.
