CustodialDeath – Jagan Seeks Independent Probe Into Sai Krishna Death Case

CustodialDeath –   The demand for a transparent investigation into the death of a youth in police custody has intensified in Andhra Pradesh, with former chief minister and YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy calling for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident involving Gade Sai Krishna. He also urged authorities to take stringent action against every official found responsible.

Jagan demands cbi probe sai krishna death case

The opposition leader visited the family of Sai Krishna at Krishna Lanka in Vijayawada on Wednesday and met his mother, Gade Vijayalakshmi, along with other relatives. During the visit, he expressed condolences and assured the family of his support in their pursuit of justice.

Demand for a Comprehensive Investigation

Addressing reporters after meeting the family, Jagan stated that the circumstances surrounding Sai Krishna’s death required an impartial and independent investigation. According to him, the matter should not be limited to the role of the suspended Circle Inspector alone.

He alleged that responsibility could extend to higher-ranking officials within the police department, including senior officers overseeing law enforcement in the region. Jagan maintained that a thorough inquiry was necessary to determine the sequence of events and identify all individuals accountable for the incident.

Questions Raised Over Custody Period

Jagan claimed that Sai Krishna had been taken into police custody on May 9. He said the young man’s family spent several days attempting to obtain information about his condition and whereabouts after he was detained.

According to the former chief minister, Sai Krishna’s mother repeatedly approached the police station seeking updates regarding her son. However, she allegedly received no meaningful response from officials despite her efforts.

The case has drawn public attention due to allegations surrounding the treatment of the family during the period of detention and the subsequent developments that followed.

Allegations of Insensitive Conduct

While speaking to the media, Jagan alleged that police personnel behaved insensitively toward Sai Krishna’s mother when she sought information about her son. He claimed that instead of providing assistance, some officials made remarks that caused further distress to the family.

The allegations have added to concerns raised by opposition leaders and rights advocates regarding the handling of the case. The family has been seeking answers about the circumstances that led to Sai Krishna’s death while he was reportedly under police custody.

Concerns Over Law and Order Situation

Jagan argued that the incident reflected broader concerns about policing and law enforcement practices in Andhra Pradesh. He said the case had sparked serious questions about accountability and the protection of citizens’ rights.

The YSRCP chief further stated that incidents involving alleged custodial deaths require swift and transparent action to maintain public trust in institutions. He emphasized that confidence in the justice system depends on ensuring that investigations are conducted without influence or bias.

Family’s Complaints and Call for Action

The opposition leader also claimed that written complaints regarding the matter had been submitted to senior police authorities. Despite these representations, he alleged that no effective action was initiated at the appropriate time.

As demands for a detailed inquiry continue to grow, attention is now focused on the response of the state administration and law enforcement authorities. The case remains a subject of significant public and political discussion, with calls for accountability expected to continue in the coming days.
