CrimeCase – Mob Assault in Shivpuri Triggers Highway Protest and Arrest Demands
CrimeCase – A violent incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district has led to public outrage after a 40-year-old clinic operator died following an alleged mob attack, prompting villagers and family members to stage a road blockade demanding swift police action against those responsible.

Fatal Attack Reported in Village
The incident took place on Tuesday evening in Bhayavan village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bhauti police station. The victim, identified as Prabhan Singh Lodhi, suffered severe injuries during the assault and was taken to Pichhore Civil Hospital. Doctors later declared him dead while undergoing treatment.
According to a complaint filed by his wife, Meena Lodhi, a large group of people entered their residence while her husband was having dinner. She alleged that the attackers forcibly pulled him out of the house and assaulted him using sticks, iron rods and stones.
Family Members Also Allegedly Attacked
The complaint further stated that relatives who tried to protect Prabhan Singh were also targeted during the violence. The attack left the family shaken and sparked anger among local residents.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against 30 individuals. Authorities said 15 people have been identified by name, while another 15 suspects remain unidentified. Investigators have launched efforts to locate and arrest all those allegedly involved in the incident.
Dispute Linked to Woman Under Investigation
Police officials said preliminary findings suggest the violence may have been connected to a dispute involving a woman. According to investigators, the woman had married earlier this year and had recently approached police, claiming she had been assaulted by members of her family.
Officials said she later expressed a desire to stay with Prabhan Singh Lodhi, a decision that reportedly faced opposition from some of her relatives. Earlier on the same day as the attack, both sides had visited the Bhauti police station and submitted complaints against each other.
Counselling Conducted Before Incident
Police stated that after hearing the concerns of both parties, officers conducted counselling and advised them to return to the village. However, only a few hours after leaving the police station, the alleged attack on Prabhan Singh took place.
Investigators are now examining the sequence of events leading up to the violence and gathering statements from witnesses and family members as part of the inquiry.
Highway Blockade Causes Traffic Disruption
News of the victim’s death quickly spread across the area, drawing a large number of relatives and villagers to protest. Demonstrators gathered outside the police station before moving to the Shivpuri-Pichhore highway, where they blocked traffic for several hours.
The protesters demanded immediate arrests and strict legal action against every person involved in the assault. The blockade disrupted vehicle movement until senior police officers reached the location and held discussions with the aggrieved family and community members.
Security Strengthened in the Area
Following assurances from officials that firm action would be taken, the protesters ended the blockade. Police teams have since been deployed to track down the accused individuals.
Authorities have also increased security presence in the village to maintain order and prevent any further escalation of tensions while the investigation continues.
