Crime – Series of Murders Across Tirupati and Chittoor Sparks Growing Safety Concerns
Crime – A string of violent murder cases reported from Tirupati and Chittoor districts within a span of just 10 days has raised serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement. The incidents, which claimed seven lives across five separate cases, were linked to a range of motives including family conflicts, personal revenge, robbery, relationship disputes, and even an argument over a motorcycle. While investigators have solved most of the cases quickly, the repeated occurrence of such crimes has become a matter of concern for authorities.

Family Dispute Turns Deadly During Marriage Settlement
The first case was reported in Tirupati on July 9, where two men, identified as Muniratnam (50) and Manikanta, lost their lives in a violent attack during a meeting related to a marriage settlement. According to police officials, the assault was the result of an ongoing family rivalry that had continued for several years. The suspects involved in the killings were taken into custody shortly after the incident following a swift police investigation.
Refusal to Give Motorcycle Leads to Fatal Attack
In another incident under the Tirupati Rural police jurisdiction, a painter was allegedly murdered in Voteru village after refusing to hand over his motorcycle. Investigators said the disagreement escalated into a fatal assault. Police later tracked down and arrested two individuals believed to be responsible for the crime. The case highlighted how seemingly minor disputes can unexpectedly result in deadly violence.
Elderly Woman’s Murder Investigation Continues
Police are also investigating the murder of an elderly woman who was found dead inside her residence in the Jayanagar area. Preliminary findings indicate that the attackers may have targeted her for her gold jewellery, suggesting robbery as the possible motive. Despite ongoing efforts by investigators, the case has not yet been solved, and officials continue to gather evidence to identify those responsible.
Relationship Conspiracy Behind Kuppam Killing
One of the most widely discussed cases emerged from Kuppam in Chittoor district, where a man was murdered while visiting a temple. According to investigators, the killing was allegedly planned as part of a conspiracy involving the victim’s wife and a man believed to have been in a relationship with her. Police arrested six people in connection with the case after collecting evidence during the investigation.
Elderly Couple Allegedly Killed Over Personal Enmity
Just two days later, another shocking incident occurred in Ramakuppam, where an elderly couple was attacked and killed. Police alleged that the murders were planned by the couple’s grandson because of personal differences. Investigators believe the attack was carefully orchestrated before being carried out. The incident added to the growing list of violent crimes reported from the region within a short period.
Police Strengthen Security Measures
Senior police officials said these recent cases reveal an alarming pattern in which domestic disputes, strained relationships, personal grudges and minor disagreements are increasingly escalating into fatal crimes. Although investigators succeeded in solving most of the murder cases without significant delay, officials acknowledged that the frequency of such incidents presents a major policing challenge.
Speaking on the recent developments, a senior police officer said surveillance operations, intelligence gathering and routine police patrolling have been strengthened throughout Tirupati and Chittoor districts. The enhanced security measures are aimed at preventing violent offences, improving public safety and ensuring faster investigation and detection of serious criminal cases in the future.
