Convocation – President Murmu to Attend CUAP’s First Graduation Ceremony in Anantapur
Convocation – The Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP) is preparing to celebrate a landmark moment in its academic history with its first-ever convocation, scheduled to take place on July 1 at the university’s permanent “Gnana Seema” campus in Anantapur. The ceremony will mark a major achievement for the institution, bringing together graduating students, distinguished guests, and university officials to commemorate years of academic progress.

President to Lead the Historic Ceremony
President of India Droupadi Murmu will attend the convocation as the Chief Guest, underscoring the national importance of the event. Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and State Minister for Education, Information Technology and Electronics Nara Lokesh are also expected to participate as Guests of Honour. Their presence reflects the significance of the university’s journey since its establishment.
More than 1,200 students from different academic disciplines are set to receive their degrees during the ceremony. For many graduates, the event represents the successful completion of years of study and the beginning of new professional and academic opportunities.
University Recognised for Modern Learning Environment
Over the past few years, CUAP has built a reputation for offering a technology-driven academic environment supported by modern infrastructure. The institution has introduced innovative programmes designed to meet evolving educational and industry requirements while creating an engaging learning experience for students.
The university is also widely recognised as the first institution in the country to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in its entirety. This early adoption has positioned CUAP among the leading higher education institutions embracing reforms aimed at improving flexibility, multidisciplinary learning, and skill development.
Campus Developed After Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation
The Central University of Andhra Pradesh was established as part of the commitments made by the Union Government following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The institution was created to strengthen access to quality higher education in the region and support long-term academic growth.
After receiving approval during the 2018-19 period, the Andhra Pradesh government allocated 493 acres of land at Jantaluru village in Bukkarayasamudram mandal, located on the outskirts of Anantapur, for the construction of the university’s permanent campus. The expansive site has since been developed into a modern educational hub equipped with facilities designed to support teaching, research, and student life.
Milestone for Higher Education in the State
The inaugural convocation is expected to serve as a defining chapter in the university’s development. Beyond awarding degrees, the event highlights CUAP’s rapid institutional growth and its commitment to providing quality education aligned with national academic reforms.
As the university welcomes its first graduating batch, the ceremony is expected to reinforce its role in shaping skilled professionals and contributing to the expansion of higher education opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. With continued investment in infrastructure and academic innovation, CUAP aims to strengthen its position as an important centre for learning and research in the years ahead.
