Cleanliness Drive Conducted at Ambedkar Memorial

The event focused on improving sanitation around the memorial dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Nadda personally took part in cleaning activities near the statue, helping clear the surrounding area and assisting volunteers involved in maintaining the site. He also poured water around the memorial premises as part of the effort to keep the location clean and well-maintained.

The programme was organised to encourage public participation in cleanliness activities and reinforce the importance of maintaining hygienic public spaces. Local volunteers and community members joined the initiative, reflecting a broader effort to promote civic responsibility.

Tribute Paid to Architect of the Constitution

Following the sanitation campaign, Nadda offered flowers at the Ambedkar statue and remembered the constitutional visionary for his immense contribution to India’s democratic framework. He stated that Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas continue to influence the nation and remain relevant for future generations.

According to the Union Minister, paying respect to Ambedkar goes beyond ceremonial gestures and represents a collective duty to uphold the values he championed. He noted that the Constitution drafted under Ambedkar’s leadership continues to guide the country’s democratic institutions.

Emphasis on Cleanliness as a Social Responsibility

Addressing media representatives during the programme, Nadda highlighted the role of cleanliness in shaping a responsible and progressive society. He recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on sanitation and civic discipline during the freedom movement, saying that cleanliness was viewed as an essential part of social reform and public awareness.

He remarked that maintaining clean surroundings contributes not only to better health outcomes but also to stronger community participation. According to him, public hygiene remains a shared responsibility that requires consistent involvement from citizens.

Swachh Bharat Mission Highlighted

Nadda also referred to the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, describing it as a major step toward improving sanitation awareness across the country. He said the campaign has helped transform cleanliness into a people-driven movement and encouraged greater participation in hygiene-related activities.

The Minister observed that the initiative has contributed to noticeable changes in public attitudes toward sanitation. Increased awareness and community engagement, he said, have played an important role in improving cleanliness standards in both urban and rural areas.

Call for Continued Public Participation

Speaking about the Shimla programme, Nadda said he regularly participates in cleanliness drives whenever opportunities arise and encourages others to do the same. He stressed that sanitation efforts should not be limited to occasional campaigns but should become part of everyday life.

He further stated that the movement for cleanliness extends beyond government programmes and succeeds only when citizens actively contribute. Collective action, he said, remains essential for achieving the broader vision of a cleaner and healthier India.

The Shimla event forms part of a wider series of outreach programmes being conducted across the country to promote sanitation awareness, strengthen public involvement, and encourage communities to take an active role in maintaining hygienic surroundings.
