Airlines: issue cautions as visibility declines due to dense fog, disrupting flights across northern India

Airlines: As heavy fog continued to interfere with aircraft operations in regions of north India, many airlines issued travel advisories. Due to bad weather and heavy fog in Delhi, SpiceJet alerted travelers on Thursday of potential delays and cancellations.

The airline warned travelers to check their flight status on its website before to travel, as it said that all departures, arrivals, and subsequent flights may be impacted.

In addition, Air India issued a warning that over the next days, heavy fog conditions may result in poor visibility, which would affect flight operations at its primary hub in Delhi as well as at a number of airports in northern and eastern India, potentially having a ripple effect across its network.

Air India advised travelers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport on Wednesday, especially during the holiday season. The airline claimed to have implemented a number of preventative measures, such as improved ground coordination and prior operational planning, to lessen interruptions caused by fog.

Despite these precautions, Air India said that unexpected cancellations or protracted delays can still happen during times of heavy fog. They also stated that ground crew will be on hand 24/7 to help passengers and organize alternate plans. It also emphasized its FogCare program, which allows travelers on flights that are likely to be impacted to get prior notifications on their registered cellphone numbers, as well as the choice to switch flights without incurring extra fees or request a complete refund without incurring penalties.

While handling weather-related difficulties, the airline reiterated that passenger and staff safety remained its top priority and asked for cooperation and tolerance.

IndiGo also sent a travel alert earlier on Wednesday, stating that flight schedules have been impacted by poor visibility and fog over Chandigarh. The airline promised help from its personnel throughout the interruption and said it was keeping a close eye on the weather. Passengers were encouraged to check their flight status via the company’s website or app.

Delhi AQI is still in dire straits.
As of 6:00 am on Thursday, Delhi’s Air Quality Index was 356 in the extremely bad category, according to statistics from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app. To reduce the poisonous air, the Delhi government has announced stringent anti-pollution measures.

These include requiring Pollution Under Control permits for cars entering the country, prohibiting vehicles transporting building materials, and switching to hybrid work.
