Officials said Kumar, who works as a contractual Data Entry Operator at the Directorate General office, sustained a severe head injury when the stone fragment allegedly fell from the outer structure of the building.

Police Responded After Emergency Call

According to information provided by New Delhi Police, an emergency call was received at Tilak Marg Police Station at approximately 2:00 PM on May 28. The caller reported that a person had been injured after debris appeared to fall from the outer section of Doordarshan Building-B.

Police personnel were immediately dispatched to the location to assess the situation and ensure that necessary medical assistance was provided. Upon arrival, officers secured the area and began gathering details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Preliminary Inspection Points to Structural Debris

Initial observations made by investigating officers suggest that pieces of stone may have broken away from the exterior facade of the building before falling onto the area below. Authorities conducted an inspection of the site to determine how the material became detached and whether any additional safety risks exist.

The incident has raised questions regarding the maintenance and structural condition of older public buildings, particularly in locations where employees and visitors frequently move through surrounding areas.

Investigation Continues as Authorities Gather Evidence

Police officials stated that Kumar was not in a condition to provide a statement due to the severity of his injuries. Doctors treating him reportedly declared him medically unfit for questioning at this stage.

Investigators are now examining all available evidence, including the exact point from which the debris fell and whether any negligence or structural failure contributed to the accident. Authorities are also expected to review maintenance records and assess if further preventive measures are required to avoid similar incidents in the future.

No additional injuries were reported in connection with the occurrence. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have said further details will be released as more information becomes available.
