Addressing media on board the Air Force On his trip back from Mar-a-Lago, Trump said that the US effort in Venezuela had severely damaged Cuba’s standing and that Havana had lost a vital source of financial assistance.

Trump said, “Cuba now has no income,” noting that the nation had been mostly dependent on Venezuelan oil. “They rely entirely on Venezuela for their income, and Cuba is literally on the verge of collapse.”

Trump said that military action against Cuba is not presently planned by the US, implying that internal collapse is more probable. He said, “We’re not going in.” “I believe it will just collapse. It’s down for the count.

According to him, a lot of Cuban Americans would be happy with this result. “This will make a lot of wonderful Cuban Americans very happy,” Trump said.

Trump used some of his harshest rhetoric when addressing Colombia, accusing its government of condoning the manufacturing of cocaine intended for the US. Trump said, “Colombia is also very sick, run by a sick man who likes to make cocaine and sell it to the United States.”

He cautioned that the US may take action. Trump said, “It sounds good to me,” when asked if it meant a surgery, but he added, “He’s not going to be doing it very long.”

In response to inquiries, Trump also referred to Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia as a “regional threat.” “We had a drug caliphate in our backyard,” he said, adding that the US is now working to destroy it.

In a spectacular operation on January 3, US soldiers took the president of Venezuela from his home in Caracas and transported him to New York for a judicial trial.

Regarding Mexico, Trump said that drug cartels still control a significant portion of the nation and chastised the government for not doing more to combat them. Trump said, “Whether you like it or not, the cartels are in control of Mexico.” “The cartels are in control of Mexico, which is not a pleasant thing to say.”

According to Trump, he has often promised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum US military support in the fight against drug trafficking. “I offered to send troops every single time I spoke with her,” he said.

Sheinbaum has refused, he said. She’s worried. She’s a little scared,” Trump said.

Trump said that narcotics are still moving north via Mexican territory and that Mexico has to take more serious action or suffer repercussions. He said, “Mexico needs to get their act together.”

Additionally, the president cautioned that the US is still ready to extend its activities beyond of Venezuela if needed. Trump said, “We were prepared to do a second strike,” adding that if regional governments do not “behave,” the option is still available.

Trump presented his remarks as a component of a more comprehensive regional strategy. “It’s our hemisphere,” he said, citing the Monroe Doctrine and claiming that other presidents had forgotten about it.

Trump said that security and stability, not occupation, are the objectives. “Our goal is to have prosperous and viable nations all around us,” he said.

The statements demonstrated Trump’s willingness to change US ties with neighbors he claims threaten American security by using direct warnings, military action, and economic pressure.
