At the airport, the two leaders exchanged cordial greetings. As part of the formal greeting, PM Modi was given a Guard of Honor.

Members of the Indian community later gave PM Modi a hearty welcome at the hotel in Muscat. Hundreds of people waved Indian flags and cheered “Modi Modi,” “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” and “Vande Mataram” as they greeted the Indian PM.

Several Indian community members who had assembled in huge numbers to meet PM Modi were welcomed and engaged by him. During the welcoming ceremony, he also saw a number of cultural acts.

Prime Minister Modi’s second trip to Oman highlights the strengthening strategic ties between India and Oman.

Given that the visit falls on the 70th anniversary of India and Oman’s diplomatic ties being established, it takes on particular importance. Additionally, it comes after Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s December 2023 state visit to India, which demonstrated the two nations’ high-level political involvement.

Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa, Overseas Indian Affairs) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), informed the media before to the visit that this would be Prime Minister Modi’s second trip to Oman after his first visit in February 2018. He emphasized the long-lasting character of India-Oman relations, which are based on centuries-old interactions via marine commerce and interpersonal relationships.

“The Honourable Prime Minister will undertake a comprehensive review of the entire spectrum of bilateral relations with His Majesty the Sultan of Oman and exchange perspectives on regional and international issues of mutual interest,” added Chatterjee.

Currently, India and Oman have a strong strategic alliance that is marked by collaboration in a variety of fields. With robust cooperation in energy security, marine cooperation, and regional stability, Oman continues to be a crucial partner for India in the Gulf.

It is anticipated that Prime Minister Modi’s visit would strengthen bilateral ties even further and provide India-Oman cooperation new impetus in the years to come.
