Mediation Efforts Remain a Key Topic

During the call, the two officials reviewed mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. Particular attention was given to diplomatic initiatives supported by Pakistan, which have sought to encourage dialogue between the two sides.

Al-Thani reiterated Qatar’s position in favor of a broad and sustainable agreement that could help resolve existing disputes through peaceful means. He emphasized the importance of constructive participation by all involved parties in mediation efforts, noting that cooperation remains essential for long-term regional stability.

Concern Over Maritime Security

The Qatari prime minister also highlighted the strategic significance of maritime routes in the Gulf region. He stressed that freedom of navigation remains a fundamental principle for international trade and regional security.

According to the ministry’s statement, Al-Thani warned that any attempt to shut down the Strait of Hormuz or use the waterway as a political tool could worsen existing tensions and negatively affect the interests of countries across the region. The strait continues to be one of the world’s most important energy transit corridors, making its stability a matter of international concern.

Support for Diplomatic Solutions

Qatar once again underlined its preference for dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective ways to address complex regional challenges. Al-Thani urged all sides to avoid actions that could lead to further escalation and instead focus on peaceful negotiations.

The conversation took place at a time when regional and international actors are actively supporting mediation efforts designed to ease tensions in the Gulf. Ongoing concerns related to maritime security and regional stability continue to influence diplomatic discussions.

Iran Issues Warning Over Lebanon Situation

Separately, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a warning regarding potential Israeli military actions against Beirut and the southern suburb of Dahieh. Iranian state media reported that the military command cautioned against further attacks and called attention to the security situation in Lebanon.

The statement also warned residents in northern Israel and military settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories to leave those areas if military operations continue. Iranian officials accused Israeli leadership of increasing tensions through threats directed at locations in Lebanon.

Iranian President Raises Concerns in International Call

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also addressed regional developments during a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. According to Iranian reports, Pezeshkian expressed concern over repeated ceasefire violations in Lebanon and the continued displacement of civilians.

The Iranian president further criticized what he described as political and military backing provided by the United States to Israel. He argued that a lack of progress in honoring diplomatic commitments, combined with ongoing regional conflicts, has complicated efforts to advance negotiations.

Despite these concerns, Pezeshkian said Iran remains committed to pursuing dialogue and diplomatic engagement as a means of reducing tensions and resolving disputes.

Israel Responds to Security Threats

On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that they had instructed the military to carry out operations targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israeli authorities said the decision was taken in response to what they described as repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah, including attacks directed at northern Israeli communities.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that Tehran has suspended discussions and the exchange of draft proposals with the United States through mediators. The reported decision was described as a reaction to recent developments involving Israeli actions in Lebanon.
