Police Respond to Initial Emergency Call
The Muscatine Police Department said officers were dispatched shortly after receiving reports of gunfire at approximately 12:12 p.m. local time. Emergency responders arrived at a residence where they discovered four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate response efforts, all four victims were pronounced dead at the location.
Authorities stated that early findings suggest the incident originated from a domestic dispute involving members of the same family. Investigators believe all four victims were related to the suspected gunman.
Suspect Identified by Investigators
Police identified the suspect as 52-year-old Ryan Willis McFarland of Muscatine. Officials said he had left the residence before law enforcement officers reached the scene.
A search operation was launched, and McFarland was later located near the Riverfront Trail close to a pedestrian bridge. According to investigators, he was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel attempted to provide assistance, but he was declared dead at the scene.

As detectives continued their investigation, two more victims were discovered at separate locations. One adult male was found deceased inside a residence, while another adult male was located at a local business. Authorities reported that both deaths appeared to have resulted from gunshot wounds.
