Fitoor – Debchandrima Singha Roy Reflects on Saumya’s New Journey
Fitoor – Actress Debchandrima Singha Roy has spoken about the emotional core of her forthcoming television show Fitoor, saying the story mirrors the quiet fears and adjustments that many young women face when they enter an unfamiliar academic environment.

A Story Rooted in Everyday Emotions
Speaking about the recently released promo, Debchandrima said it resonated with her because it portrays an experience that often remains unspoken. She noted that moving from a girls’ school to a co-educational college can feel intimidating for many students, particularly during the first few days of a major life change.
According to the actor, the character’s journey is likely to connect with viewers who have dealt with nervousness while entering a new social space. She said the show aims to remind young women that uncertainty is a natural part of change and that confidence develops gradually with time and self-belief.
Promo Introduces Two Contrasting Personalities
The makers recently unveiled a new promotional video for Fitoor on Instagram. The teaser introduces two people with sharply different temperaments and suggests that their worlds may collide in unexpected ways.
The promo focuses on the hesitation and unease experienced by a young woman who leaves the familiar setting of an all-girls school and begins life at a co-educational college. It presents her concerns as part of a wider emotional transition rather than simply a classroom adjustment.
Debchandrima to Play Saumya
In the series, Debchandrima Singha Roy will portray Saumya, a reserved young woman from Prayagraj. Saumya begins a master’s degree programme and finds herself struggling to adapt to a setting that is completely different from the one she has known.
The character is also searching for a stronger sense of identity as she navigates anxiety, new friendships and unfamiliar expectations. Her story is expected to centre on self-discovery and the gradual confidence that comes from facing difficult situations.
Ishaan Dhawan Cast as Jeet
Ishaan Dhawan will play Jeet, the male lead and a free-spirited young man with a fearless approach to life. His personality stands in contrast to Saumya’s guarded nature, creating the foundation for a relationship shaped by two very different outlooks.
The cast also includes Eindraneel Bhattacharya and Ishani Banerjee in confirmed roles. Further details about their characters have not yet been announced by the production team.
Prayagraj Forms the Setting for the Drama
Fitoor is set in Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad, and uses the city as the backdrop for Saumya’s personal transformation. The narrative follows her as she moves beyond her comfort zone and confronts the uncertainty that comes with a new chapter in education and life.
The show is being produced by Ved Raj’s Story Square Productions. It is scheduled to premiere in late 2026 on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
