Security –As India prepares for the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Police has intensified its security planning by working closely with neighbouring states and central agencies to ensure smooth, safe, and peaceful events across the national capital.

High-Level Security Meeting Focuses on Joint Preparedness

With Independence Day approaching, Delhi Police convened an extensive inter-state coordination meeting on Wednesday to strengthen security arrangements and improve intelligence sharing among multiple law enforcement agencies. The objective was to establish a unified strategy capable of addressing any potential security challenges during the national celebrations.

The meeting was chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and brought together senior police officials from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Chandigarh. Representatives from several central intelligence and enforcement agencies also participated in the discussions.

Intelligence Sharing and Preventive Measures Reviewed

According to Special Commissioner of Police (Crime, Perception Management and Media Cell) HGS Dhaliwal, officials exchanged intelligence updates and assessed the preparedness of various agencies. The discussions focused on strengthening anti-terror measures through enhanced surveillance, stricter border checks, verification of suspicious individuals, and preventive policing across sensitive locations.

Authorities also reviewed the importance of coordinated intelligence exchange so that any information regarding suspicious persons or vehicles can be communicated promptly between states and security agencies.

Monitoring of Airspace and Flying Objects

One of the significant issues discussed during the meeting was the regulation of drones, paragliders, and other aerial objects that could pose security concerns during Independence Day events. Officials agreed that close monitoring of low-altitude air activity in open spaces would be essential to prevent any unauthorised movement or potential security breaches.

Security agencies are expected to implement appropriate restrictions and surveillance measures to ensure that public celebrations remain safe without disrupting legitimate activities.

Focus on Criminal Networks and Online Surveillance

The coordination meeting also examined the growing need to monitor social media platforms for any content that could threaten public order or spread misinformation during the celebrations. Officials stressed that digital surveillance would complement field intelligence in identifying possible risks at an early stage.

In addition, participating agencies reviewed the activities of interstate criminal networks operating across the National Capital Region. Discussions covered efforts to curb the illegal movement of firearms and narcotics while maintaining sustained action against organised crime groups that operate across state boundaries.

Traffic Planning and Border Coordination

Traffic management formed another important part of the discussions. Officials reviewed transportation arrangements, anticipated restrictions, and measures required to maintain smooth movement during Independence Day events while ensuring public safety.

Authorities also examined strategies to prevent unauthorised cross-border movement during the security period. States and Union Territories participating in the meeting were encouraged to maintain constant communication and provide full operational support to ensure the security plan is implemented effectively.

Commissioner Calls for Continuous Vigilance

During the meeting, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar highlighted the importance of close coordination among police units stationed along interstate borders. He directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of social media platforms, respond swiftly to credible intelligence inputs, and strengthen field-level cooperation between agencies.

The Commissioner also emphasised the need for sustained enforcement against organised criminal syndicates, particularly those believed to be directed from outside the country, while ensuring that security arrangements remain proactive throughout the Independence Day celebrations.
