Siddharth believes his career has taken an unexpected yet meaningful path, one that has repeatedly connected him with characters rooted in patriotism and sacrifice. Nearly two decades after portraying Bhagat Singh and Karan Singhania in the acclaimed film Rang De Basanti, the actor is preparing to portray Indian Air Force officer Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja in the upcoming Netflix series Operation Safed Sagar. Looking back at this journey, he said he feels fortunate that such significant roles have found him naturally over the years.
A Career Marked by Patriotic Characters
Recalling the turning points in his career, Siddharth reflected on the similarities between his breakthrough patriotic role and his latest project. He noted that around 20 years ago he was chosen to play Bhagat Singh and Karan Singhania in Rang De Basanti, while two decades later he has been entrusted with portraying Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja. According to the actor, he sees this as a rare opportunity and believes fate has repeatedly placed such meaningful characters in his path.
He added that he never actively pursued these roles. Instead, they arrived unexpectedly, making him grateful for the opportunities. Siddharth said he considers himself fortunate that filmmakers continue to think of him for stories with emotional depth and national significance.
Patience Over Chasing Opportunities
Speaking about his approach to selecting projects, Siddharth explained that he has never felt pressured to accept every offer that comes his way. He said he is comfortable turning down roles that do not connect with him and is equally willing to wait years for a project that truly resonates.
The actor pointed out that even while waiting for the right scripts, he has remained consistently active across the Indian film industry. Working in multiple languages has allowed him to stay creatively engaged without compromising on the kind of stories he wants to tell. For him, meaningful cinema is more important than simply increasing the number of releases.

Operation Safed Sagar has been directed by Oni Sen, while the story has been created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava. The series is produced by Sanjay Routray and Sarita Patil under the Matchbox Shots LLP banner, in collaboration with Mehboob Pal Singh Brar of Feel Good Films.
The production brings together a strong ensemble cast featuring Siddharth alongside Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin, and Amrita Bagchi.
