FoodSafety – As preparations for the annual Kanwar Yatra gather pace, the Food Safety Department in Moradabad has stepped up inspections across food and beverage outlets to ensure devotees receive safe and fairly priced services during the pilgrimage.
With the Sawan pilgrimage approaching, authorities in Moradabad have launched an extensive inspection drive covering eateries, roadside food stalls, and beverage shops located along the Kanwar Yatra route. As part of the initiative, the department has also introduced a QR code-based complaint system that allows devotees to quickly report any issues related to food quality, pricing, or services. Officials say the move is aimed at improving transparency and enabling faster action against violations.
QR Code System Introduced for Faster Complaints
Food Safety Officer Kripashankar Singh said the department has started placing dedicated QR codes at food outlets situated on the pilgrimage route. The digital system has been designed to provide devotees with a simple method to register complaints if they encounter problems such as food adulteration, excessive pricing, or other irregularities during their journey.
According to Singh, every complaint received through the QR code platform will be reviewed promptly, allowing officials to respond without unnecessary delays. The department believes that the technology-driven approach will strengthen monitoring throughout the pilgrimage period.
Authorities Warn Against Adulteration and Overcharging
The department has made it clear that strict action will be taken against vendors found violating food safety norms or charging unreasonable prices. Singh stated that the state government has directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements for devotees during the Sawan season, and district authorities are closely supervising the implementation of these measures.
He added that preventing food adulteration remains one of the department’s highest priorities. Regular inspections will continue throughout the pilgrimage to verify hygiene standards, check the quality of food items, and ensure businesses comply with applicable regulations.
Focus on Safe and Hassle-Free Pilgrimage
Officials said the objective is to make sure Kanwariyas do not face avoidable inconvenience while travelling through Moradabad. Besides maintaining food quality, the department is also monitoring pricing practices so that pilgrims are not subjected to unfair charges at shops and temporary stalls.
The QR code complaint mechanism is expected to improve communication between devotees and local authorities. If any violation is reported, enforcement teams can investigate the matter quickly and take appropriate action wherever necessary.
