Admissions – Delhi University Begins New Academic Session as Freshers Join Campuses
Admissions –The University of Delhi officially began its 2026-27 academic session on Tuesday, welcoming a new batch of undergraduate students across its colleges. While classes commence according to the academic calendar, the university’s admission process under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) is still underway, with document verification and fee submissions continuing alongside orientation activities.
Colleges Welcome New Students Through Orientation Programmes
Across the university, colleges have organised orientation and induction sessions to introduce newly admitted students to campus life. These programmes are designed to help freshers understand academic regulations, departmental structures, student societies, library facilities, support services, and other important aspects of university life.
Many colleges also shared welcome messages on their official social media platforms, expressing excitement as students arrived for the beginning of their higher education journey. The orientation events are expected to continue over the next few days before regular academic schedules are fully implemented.
Admission Process Continues Under CSAS
Even as the academic session begins, undergraduate admissions remain active through the CSAS portal. The university recently completed the second round of seat allocation, releasing fresh allotments on July 25.
According to the latest figures released by Delhi University, 24,814 applicants received new seat allocations during the second round. At the same time, 30,682 students secured upgrades to colleges or courses they had ranked higher in their preferences. Another 15,265 candidates retained their previously allotted seats after choosing the freeze option during counselling.
University officials said that a total of 88,584 candidates are currently participating in the second phase of the admission process.
Document Verification and Fee Payment Timeline
Students who received seats during the second round were required to accept their allotments by 11:59 pm on July 26. Following the acceptance window, colleges began verifying applicants’ academic documents and eligibility records.
The final stage of the current admission cycle requires candidates to complete payment of the admission fee after successful verification. The university has fixed the deadline for fee submission at 11:59 pm on July 28, ensuring that admissions can be confirmed without delay before subsequent counselling rounds are considered.
Strong Response Recorded During Initial Admission Round
Delhi University had already witnessed a significant response during the first phase of undergraduate admissions. In that round, 63,756 students successfully confirmed their seats.
Overall, the university has offered admission opportunities to 93,033 candidates despite having just over 71,000 undergraduate seats available. These seats are spread across 221 academic programmes offered by 67 constituent colleges.
Admissions this year continue to be conducted on the basis of CUET-UG scores along with programme preferences submitted by candidates through the CSAS portal, following the university’s centralized admission framework.
Minimum Allocation Scores Released
Alongside the second round results, Delhi University has also published the minimum allocation scores required for admission across different programmes and colleges. Candidates can access their allotment details and score information by logging into the official CSAS admission portal using their credentials.
The university has indicated that additional rounds of counselling and seat allocation will be conducted if vacant seats remain after completion of the current admission cycle. Officials have advised applicants to regularly monitor the admission portal for further announcements and important updates regarding future rounds.
